Target Sr. Manager, Demand Planning in Bangalore, India

As a Sr. Manager in Demand Planning, you will lead, coach and develop the team to oversee the process of forecasting & planning guest demand for Target’s businesses. Demand planning will play a pivotal role in implementing Integrated Business Planning capability for Target to maximize sales and maintain inventory health. This role will be an essential link between financial planning and inventory teams to operationalize guest demand.

Your core responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Leading a team of demand planners in service of building demand planning capability at TII

  • Ensure accurate forecasts of guest demand for assigned categories driven by our in-house ML based forecasting engine and market intelligence.

  • Collaborate with Merch planners and reconcile bottom’s up forecast with category financial plans

  • Collaborate with Inventory teams to operationalize finalized demand plans for accurate purchasing and positioning

  • Review forecast accuracy with the team and execute actions to improve accuracy on an on-going basis

  • Collaborate with Data sciences to identify and improve machine learning algorithms to generate accurate forecasts

  • Communicate findings and learnings with Planning stakeholders on a regular basis

  • Participate in global forums and represent demand planning to drive organizational initiatives

Reporting/Working Relationship

  • Reports to Director, Planning

  • Works closely with all MPLS Planning Leaders (VP, Sr. Divisionals/ Divisionals, Global capability team & Data Sciences)

Minimum Requirements

  • 10 – 12 years of total experience in Demand planning with a minimum 5 years of people leadership experience

  • Expertise in descriptive and predictive analytics with a good understanding of latest demand forecasting techniques and best practices

  • High level of resiliency, personal accountability, collaboration and comfort with ambiguity

  • Demonstrated ability in conflict resolution and managing multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and translate strategy to action and adjust strategy based on changing circumstances

  • Effective communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience in complex problem solving

  • Demonstrated experience in working across geographies to build capabilities offshore

  • Strong understanding of retail business with end to end understanding of supply chain planning
