Introduction

The IBM mainframe (Z Systems) is responsible for most credit card transactions and is used by the many of the top insurers, banks, retailers, and airlines.

IBM z/OS® is an operating system with highly secure and scalable hypervisor and virtualization technology designed to run Linux®, z/OS®, z/VSE® and z/TPF virtual machines as well as Red Hat® OpenShift® on IBM zSystems™ and IBM LinuxONE servers. z/OS provides a highly secure and scalable environment for efficiently running critical Linux applications, with support for more Linux virtual servers than any other platform in a single footprint.

The z/OS team is a worldwide team, primarily located in Poughkeepsie, NY with expansion plans in Bangalore, India. All phases of the software life cycle are performed within this team, including the design, development, test, performance, as well as supporting the product in the field with customers. Agile methodologies are used throughout the life cycle.

We are looking for qualified development manager candidates to be part of our IBM Z Software organisation, specially in the areas of zAIOps. Key Skills include People Management, Project / Release Management, Customer Engagement and driving organisation initiatives.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Are you passionate about software quality? The IBM development team working on the IntelliMagic products is looking for an experienced software tester to help us ensure the quality of our software.

The team develops AIOps software that processes and analyzes terabytes of data per day in order to provide meaningful insight into the performance of hardware, middleware, and applications in IBM Z and distributed environments. IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS empowers mainframe sites to prevent service disruptions before they occur and utilize measurement data insights to lower costs and optimize business applications.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

Together with our other testers, you will be responsible for quality control within our development process based on agile principles with monthly iterations. You will work closely with the developers and other testers during the entire development process. We have automated test suites that we are continuously expanding and improving. And of course, manual testing will also be part of your job.

Please note, this position requires working onsite 3 days per week at the Leiden location, current office site for IntelliMagic an IBM Company.

Key Responsibilities:

• While they are being designed and implemented, you think about how new features and bug fixes can be tested.

• You adapt existing tests and design new tests, execute them, and interpret the results.

• You are responsible for running, maintaining, and expanding the automated test suites and you think about how we can automate even more.

• You consult with the team about quality aspects such as usability, testability, and robustness.

• You talk to the developers about the impact of their changes and adjust your tests accordingly.

• You assess risks and advise whether the product is release ready.

• You clearly record test results and other relevant findings in our tracking system.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree and are looking for a job where this level of thinking is essential.

• You have very good analytical skills, good eye for detail, and can distinguish between major and minor issues.

• You have at least 2 years of experience in testing software and automating tests.

• You enjoy understanding test results in detail and acquiring the knowledge needed to do that.

• You like to involve others in your pursuit of attention to quality.

• You are friendly and open and work well with software developers and other colleagues.

• You are fluent in English and Dutch, or are willing to learn the latter through an intensive course.
