Naval Facilities Engineering Command LEGAL ASSISTANT (OA) in Bangor, Washington

Summary You will serve as a LEGAL ASSISTANT (OA) in the NAVFAC Engineering systems command Northwest Business Directorate of NAVFAC NORTHWEST. Responsibilities You will give general administrative office support to attorneys which includes filing, photocopying, scanning, faxing, and assembling general correspondence. You will verify citations and statutory references obtained in legal documents against original sources for accuracy and compliance with the source material. You will establish and maintain an accurate system for recording and filing all correspondence sent to or received from the Legal Department. Prepare pleadings, litigation reports, and other documents in support of litigation. You will provide scheduling and meeting support. You will initiate, track, and provides compliance reports pertaining to annual Office of Government Ethics (OGE) Form 450 requirement as required by 5 C.F.R. ยง 2634.605. You will serve as a Record Custodian, Mail Clerk, Non-Defense Travel System Entry Agent, and SharePoint Online Site Administrator. Performs Timekeeper duties. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applying for the GS 8 PositionYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting attorneys and paralegal specialists in preparing and tracking litigation holds, legal briefs and pleadings, command directives, executive summary memoranda, memoranda of agreement, and preparation of legal memoranda and correspondence; 2) Maintaining litigation case files, including filing all pleadings, correspondence, orders, motions, and discovery; 3) Preparing correspondence, reports, memos in accordance with established standards; 4) Compiling attorney and staff metrics to prepare recurring reports and special reports to higher authorities and 5) Analyzing cases, legal documents, and evidence received.
