Introduction

DePuy Synthes, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is currently hiring for a Senior R&D Mechanical/Electromechanical Engineer. The position is a fixed term contract for at least 24 months.

The Senior Product Development Engineer will utilize tools and methods for the effective and efficient development, transfer, and maintenance of products/processes throughout the product lifecycle. The incumbent will also utilize electromechanical principles and problem-solving skills to develop and optimize products/processes that are aligned with the overall Product Development vision. They will ensure effective risk management to prevent unanticipated failure modes and improve capability of processes. This position will be based in Oberdorf, Switzerland.

Key Responsibilities

You will be employed in the Product Development Engineering Power Tools Team, which is responsible for the design and documentation of products on the market. Your work has a direct impact on our patients and users.

In this position you are responsible for the technical support of manufacturing product transfers for existing electrically powered instruments and their accessories such as batteries and chargers.

• Contact person for technical project inquiries/matters for existing products; Coordination of technical project partners

• Responsible for product design, product specification and documentation for existing products

• Implementation of technical and documentary changes in accordance with applicable internal guidelines

• Design analysis of internal and external error messages

• Further development of existing products in accordance with internal development guidelines

• Active participation and/or supervision of product maintenance tasks in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams consisting of suppliers, production, purchasing, new development and marketing

• Responsibility for generating necessary product development documents to ensure compliance with national and international regulations in the medical technology sector (in particular EUMDR, US FDA, Japanese PAL)

• Conduct stakeholder analysis to ensure that customer CTQs are known and adequately addressed in control plan.

• Develop measurement systems/capabilities, destructive tests, non-destructive test for manufacturing processes.

• Partners with other cross functional partners to ensure the proper application of design controls, risk management and the investigation/correction of design failures/challenges.

• Serves as a consultant in product development related operations and quality systems applicable to the plant products and processes in support to day-to-day manufacturing processes. Provides guidance and recommendation as needed.

• Supports new product introduction as part of design transfer.

• Know and follow policies regarding code of conduct, ethics and compliance programs and other relevant regulations

Qualifications

• University/Bachelor’s or equivalent degree is required. Other Advanced degree or a degree with a focus in

• Engineering, Science, Computer Science, or digital area is preferred.

• Able to work 24 months or longer for a fixed term contract?

• At least 5 years of experience in the development and design of mechanical or electromechanical devices (required)

• Experience in the area of ​drive and/or battery technology (required)

• Experience in the area of ​industrialization of products (required)

• Experience in medical technology or a regulatory-relevant area is an advantage

• Experience in the area of ​Power Tools is an advantage

• Experience in the area of ​approval according to IEC 60601 and EN 62133 is an advantage
