This is a full-time position located at the Capitol Annex Building in Baton Rouge, LA.
About this position:
The Louisiana Office of Tourism is charged with the responsibility to market and promote Louisiana as a premiere travel destination, increasing revenue generated by visitor spending, and contributing to the economic impact of tourism in all 64 parishes.
The Louisiana Office of Tourism is a multi-pronged agency charged with leading Louisiana’s large and diverse tourism industry. The Office of Tourism partners with tourism professionals and industry stakeholders in private and public sectors to extend and enhance their efforts to reach domestic and international travel trade and consumers. The Louisiana Office of Tourism promotes economic growth of Louisiana through the implementation of a variety of specialized programs designed to encourage visitation to the state and increase visitor spending.
This position is a professional level position that manages the creative initiatives of the advertising program. It works in conjunction with the Louisiana Office of Tourism Communications team, as well as with appropriate agencies under contract to Louisiana for advertising initiatives.
Responsibilities Include:
Advertising Program Management 55%
Serves as an advisor to the Assistant Secretary on agency matters.
Assists in the development of the Louisiana Office of Tourism’s annual and seasonal advertising plans in conjunction with the Assistant Secretary and with input from other required parties. These plans should be outlined at the beginning of each fiscal year for review.
Requests from the advertising agency research on media channels identifying those best to reach target audiences. - Gather rates that the advertising agency has negotiated on behalf of the Louisiana Office of Tourism.
Ensure that the advertising agency secures usage rights, located assets, and obtains direction from the agency of record.
Track the progress of each advertising campaign and report on the results to the Assistant Secretary.
Establishes program goals and develops organizational plans with limited input from higher levels of management.
Analyzes advertising programs and suggest best practices.
Coordinates with management to ensure advertising and special events planning needs of the agency are addressed. - Undertakes special programs at the request of the Assistant Secretary.
Management and Supervisory Functions 40%
- Functions as a member of the Louisiana Office of Tourism management team.
-Set division plans, guidelines, objectives, and timelines for subordinate staff.
Supervise and review performance of staff on implementing their work in a satisfactory manner, representing the state well and adhering to all state rules and regulations as appropriately for the assigned workload.
Provides on-going consultation and assistance to professional and support staff on programmatic issues.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Six years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization; OR
An advanced degree, or a Juris Doctorate, plus two years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
