JOB SUMMARY

The Professional Counselor Externship position is a program to provide LPC-IT with an opportunity to obtain the necessary clinical hours to pursue a license within the state of Wisconsin. The primary responsibilities include care coordination, intake screening, and providing evaluation and treatment to patients in the form of individual, marital, family and group therapy in a clinical practice, as well as participating in evaluation, diagnosis, and development of treatment plans for patients. These services are provided under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor and according to the philosophy and practice objectives established by Marshfield Clinic Health System.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Master’s or doctoral degree in counseling.

Preferred/Optional: None

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: Experience working with patients of all age ranges that have a range of mental health problems and diagnoses. Experience completing thorough intake assessments and making diagnoses. Experience providing ongoing treatment which addresses problems. Experience with individual, couple, family and group treatment. Experience identifying and understanding the psychodynamics of individuals. Experience working in a team environment. Experience completing thorough documentation in a timely manner.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: State of Wisconsin license as a Licensed Professional Counselor-In Training (IT) within 90 days of hire.
