Nike Technical Designer II, Global Apparel (Multiple Openings) in Beaverton, Oregon

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

This posting is for 2 positions within the Nike Global Apparel function supporting Women's Bodywear Center of Excellence (COE) and Nike Socks Circular Knit COE.

For Women’s Bodywear COE, the team obsesses the fit, form and function of bras and leggings for every level of activity our athlete* embarks on, from yoga to trail running to the enduring sport of life. The TD2 role is on our Bodywear Inline team, focused specifically on the seasonal and trend expressions of leggings. This role requires a foundational understanding of the apparel product development and manufacturing process. Experience in stretch to fit product is a bonus! We are looking for a strong communicator with acute attention to detail, as well as a passion for problem solving and a huge appetite to learn on the fly!

For Nike Socks Circular Knit COE, the team is passionate about your feet! We make performance and lifestyle wear for one of the biggest classifications in the Nike portfolio and service all categories from the basketball court to the fashion runway. Our group works end to end from initial concept, direct to factory and through distribution. The ideal candidate is someone comfortable working through ambiguity, confident asking questions and interested in learning this unique product type. The individual must be comfortable taking care of data management. This person will carry a larger number of repeat styles. We have two factory development centers on-sight. Be ready to be fully emersed into the world of knitting.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

In this role you will also be responsible for the Technical Design of assigned apparel styles. Working with Design, Product Management and Product Creation Center (Asia) on tailoring the product to the specific consumer needs.

The Technical Designer II supports the fit and construction from initial concept through to commercialization of styles to own the on time development and delivery according to critical dates, product specification, sustainability, performance and profitability goals.

The Technical Designer II helps coordinate fit sessions, takes notes and supports the larger Technical Design team to complete tech packs for our Product Creation Center (Asia) teams. They will have a small style count with low/mid complexity and will track and facilitate prototyping for those styles also.

They will have a foundational knowledge of patterns, garment construction, graphic execution and be able to convey comments through both written and verbal communication. They will be able to identify and communicate basic fit issues and have an understanding of graded nests/markers.

They will feel comfortable to seek out resources internally to continue their fit / pattern education through trainings, mentorship and special projects.

The Technical Designer II keeps abreast of market trends, team goals, new technologies and consumer needs throughout the development process and engages appropriately to ensure projects are completed within corporate guidelines and goals for all facets of product creation.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

The Technical Designer II will collaborate with Design, Product Management, PCC, materials and manufacturing to effectively execute on product development & fit goals deliverables.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING?

  • Bachelor's degree in apparel design, textile science or related field.

  • Two years additional product creation experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

  • 2+ years technical design experience in the apparel industry, which includes the apparel development process from inception through production including pattern making, grading, construction, materials, costing, manufacturing and quality.

  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience interpreting design intent.

  • Experience writing product specs and construction standards instructions.

  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator, CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex) and 3D software (Clo/Browzwear) highly desired.

  • Proficiency with MS Office programs.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international).
