System Design Engineer, Sodium Processing System The System Design Engineer reports to the System Design Manager and is focused on system design, analysis, systems engineering, and engineering oversight. In this role, you will act as a system design engineer for TerraPower's advanced nuclear reactor projects. The successful candidate will integrate and coordinate with engineers working on interfacing systems. The System Design Engineer will work as part of a high-performing team of engineers and scientists. Responsibilities Design of fluid systems from development of requirements through final design and commissioning. Perform technical trade studies and decisions to refine system design. Oversee suppliers during development and fabrication of sodium processing, filtration, and monitoring equipment Review component designs in the context of the greater system design to determine how detailed design of components impacts the greater system. Prepare system level engineering documentation including technical specifications and operations narratives. Review system documentation to anticipate and resolve system and plant level integration issues before they are realized. Support design reviews as system designs are established and refined. Develop and review technical design documents, such as System Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, Engineering Design Specifications, etc. Generate design packages for system designs including coordinating of calculations, design reports, drawings, and specifications. Interface with the design team to create and manage drawing packages of system designs, including but not limited to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), 3D models, and system interface drawings. Interface with various design disciplines (such as mechanical, instrumentation and controls, civil, and nuclear) to identify and develop system design and performance criteria. Propose and initiate testing programs for system development and qualification. Provide support and oversight during test execution, evaluation of test results, and reporting of test results. Key Qualifications and Skills B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university and 5+ years direct experience with proven mechanical systems skills.
