Red Hat Associate Systems Administrator in Bengaluru, India

The Red Hat Labs and Data Center team is looking for an Associate System Administrator in Bangalore, India to join our team. In this role, you'll have an opportunity to get hands on with cutting edge hardware, and work with an established team as we evolve a development environment to integrate new testing methodologies. As an Associate System Administrator your primary areas of responsibility will include receiving hardware from the shipping dock, checking it against established receiving procedures, upgrading firmware in a Red Hat engineering facility under the guidance of savvy admins, and performing asset management data entries within the inventory system.

What will you do

  • Receive, check in, rack and stack servers

  • Troubleshoot technical issues

  • Respond to engineering requests through ticketing system

  • Maintain, and administer hardware, including configuration changes and upgrading firmware.

  • Perform other administrative work related to labs

What will you bring

  • Prior experience in computer operations, system administration, or a closely related area or high interest into the field

  • Basic knowledge of, or experience with Linux or UNIX

  • Degree or certificate in computer science or a technology-related field is preferred

  • Ability to lift, carry, squat, and bend; must be able to lift up to 75 pounds of equipment

  • Motivated to advance in the information technology profession, with excellent troubleshooting skills

  • Good work ethic and an ability to learn and quickly grasp technical concepts

  • Good interpersonal communication skills and capable of explaining simple procedures both verbally and in writing, including English fluency

  • Excellent verbal and written customer service skills

  • Detail oriented and thorough when following procedures, as well as able to follow verbal and written instructions
