We are data services unit building a new unified service, where governance is a key feature. We have a product offering as OCI Data Catalog service, which is a key strategic service among data services, it is a metadata management service that helps data consumers discover data and improve governance in the Oracle ecosystem. Data consumers can easily assess the suitability of data for analytics and data science projects.

Your Opportunity :

You will be responsible for applying your extensive knowledge of software architecture and user experience to architect, develop and design highly performant and maintainable full stack java/JEE based applications and services on OCI.

Your technical and project management skills will be very critical to manage the product development work. You will be involved in competitive analysis discussions, market segment understanding and will be encouraged to provide thought leadership to drive the next generation products and architecture. You will also be responsible for building a world class development organization by hiring and nurturing top talent in the industry.

The job requires you to lead the path as the manager and leader for the team and would require frequent interaction with other internal product development teams as well as cross-functional teams (Product Management, Integration Engineering, Security, UX team and Technical Writers) to design , build and lead from the front.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated engineering leader who has a broad range of experience in cloud computing, software development, deployment and DevOps, as well as understanding of how enterprise grade IT infrastructure works. This person would be involved in architecture, design, prototype and development of the various aspects of Data service on OCI.

What You’ll Do

• Build cloud service on top of the modern Infrastructure as Service (IaaS) building blocks at OCI, and help driving next gen Data Services.

• Working directly with architects to ensure newer capabilities are built applying right design principles

• Working with remote and geographically distributed teams to enable building the right products, using the right building blocks and making them consumable by other products easily

• Be very technically hands-on and own/drive key end to end product/services

• You would work as a Manger and lead on both front end and backend services, and Cloud infra.

• Help drive design and build distributed, scalable, fault-tolerant software systems

• Participate in the entire software lifecycle – development, testing, CI and production operations

• Balance between product feature development and production operational concerns like writing run books, ops automation, structured logging, instrumentation for metrics and events

• Leverage a plethora of internal tooling at OCI to develop, build, deploy and troubleshoot software

• Participate in on-call for the service with the team and drive operational success of the cloud service we build.

• Work closely with senior management and architects

• Build a high performing team by hiring and nurturing top talent.

Your Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent related fields.

• Excellent coding and design skills in Java and related technologies.

• Core Java, JEE, Rest, Sprint, Hibernate/eclipse link, JDBC, Micro services, Docker/ Kubernetes, , Springboot

• Managing full stack development experience

• Knowledge of Cloud , Data Integration domain will be an added advantage.

• Prior experience building cloud services.

• Familiar with Java open-source and API standard.

• Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills.

• Ability to quickly learn new technologies in a dynamic environment.

• Good organization, communication and interpersonal skills.

• Familiarity with Agile process will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.
