Boeing Phantom Works (PW) is currently seeking a Senior Flight Engineering Manager to provide oversight and leadership to a multidiscipline team for a PW proprietary program in Berkeley, MO . This role is contingent on a future contract award.

The selected candidate will lead the Aerodynamics and Performance and Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) teams on a new development PW activity and will be part of the Air Vehicle Integrated Product Team (IPT). The pace of work requires an empowered and anticipatory leader to keep pace with the Customer and IPT Teammates.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage the teams responsible for Aero Performance Analysis, Stability and Control, and GNC.

  • Integrate with other Senior and First Line Managers to lead the other Air Vehicle and Mission Systems and Systems Engineering, Integration & Testing (SEIT) teams.

  • Execute Boeing Earned Value Management (EVM) and Management Best Practice policies and procedures as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) and set operational goals.

  • Plan, schedule, execute and support of Flight Engineering design, analysis, and modeling efforts.

  • Provide technical management of suppliers.

  • Lead process improvements.

  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.

  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.

  • Manage, develop, and motivate employees.

  • Discover new opportunities and solutions for problems by looking beyond current practices and using innovative thinking.

  • Incorporate different and novel ways to deal with work problems and opportunities.

  • Persuade and convince others without causing defensiveness.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 10+ years of experience working in one of the Flight Systems Engineering technical disciplines, such as Guidance and Control, Aerodynamics, or Propulsion.

  • 10+ years of experience in developmental aircraft design.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master’s Degree of higher in an engineering, math, computer science, physics, or other technical discipline.

  • Expertise in the implementation of 3D Model Based Design, (3DMBD), six degree of freedom (6DOF) modelling and Control Law (CLAW) creation in a developmental environment.

  • Expertise in the ability to lead the team in the implementation and execution of a clean sheet design using the latest modeling and analysis tools.

  • Experience with the analysis and design of advanced aircraft concepts.

  • Demonstrated experience with the full air vehicle development cycle in a rapid prototyping environment.

  • Experience with modern systems engineering tools and processes.

  • Experience with the Boeing production system.
