Leidos Sonar Tactical Decision Aid Subject Matter Expert in Bethesda, Maryland

Leidos’ High Fidelity Simulation Business Area is responsible for architecting and implementing large-scale system of systems solutions in support of world class simulation, training, and analysis products for the US Navy. This opportunity is located at a US Government facility in Bethesda, MD where you will be part of a high-powered team performing vital work for the Fleet. Primary Responsibilities

The candidate will primarily manage the delivery of the Undersea Warfare-Decision Support System (USW-DSS) variant of Sonar Tactical Decision Aids (STDAs); experience with USW-DSS is not required. Candidate will also support the development and testing of other STDA variants, within a matrix organization. Candidate’s responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Manage the delivery of USW-DSS requirements as a member of an Integrated Product Team.

  • Participate in activities that support the delivery STDA capabilities using one or more of the following: Requirements Definition; Analysis & Engineering; System Analysis & Design; System Integration & Test; Validation & Verification; and System & Operational Performance Analysis.

  • Conduct integration testing of STDA variants to verify the quality of deliverables.

  • Communicate with system integrators during the evaluation and testing of STDA capabilities.

  • Interact with developers and other domain experts; as well as external product team members, military personnel, and civilian DoD customers, to ensure that STDA requirements are captured and designed into the system.

Basic Qualifications

  • Approximately ten years of fleet operational experience directly related to ASW operations, systems, and theory; OR at least two years of education towards a bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution in Mathematics, Physics, Acoustics, or Engineering combined with eight years of fleet operational experience directly related to ASW operations, systems, and theory.

  • Experience with any variant of STDA

  • Must have demonstrated subject matter expertise in at least one of the following subject areas: sonar system operation, underwater signal processing, underwater sound propagation, or tactical oceanography.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Approximately twelve years of fleet operational experience directly related to ASW operations, systems, and theory; OR a bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution in Mathematics, Physics, Acoustics, or Engineering combined with approximately ten years of fleet operational experience directly related to ASW operations, systems, and theory.

  • Direct operational experience with USW-DSS.

  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to learn and apply new skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and be courteous and professional when interacting with colleagues and customers

Pay Range:

Pay Range $68,900.00 - $124,550.00
