Guardian Life Hospitality Lead in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

If yes, Guardian is actively seeing a Hospitality Lead who will be accountable for all cafeteria and coffee bar functions ensuring exemplary service to our all our colleagues and guests. Reporting into our, Head of Facilities & Hospitality Management, this role will have supervisory responsibility for third-party service providers who delivers hospitality services. You will be supervising and directly managing all day-to-day culinary operations in partnership with 3rd party food services providers who perform breakfast, lunch, catering, and coffee services in Guardian offices (Bethlehem (PA), New York City, Holmdel (NJ), Pittsfield (MA), Boston (MA), and Stamford (CT) (+other locations as required).

You will

  • Manage multiple vendors to ensure a seamless operation for food service delivery in all facets of the business: hospitality, menu creation, server cafeteria setup, safety, quality, speed, guest satisfaction, staffing, marketing, customer engagement, and cleanliness.

  • Host quarterly business reviews with key 3rd party vendors and ensure food vendors adherence to all contracts and SLA’s.

  • Partner and create innovative programs and promotions that drive increased guest patronage.

  • Manage financial budgeting and tracking of food and service spend to ensure alignment.

  • Implement and conduct safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs.

  • Maintain excellent relationships with colleagues and addresses and escalates issues immediately.

  • Evaluate quality and pricing of current services and identifying areas which are underperforming or should be changed. Propose ways to improve those areas.

  • Coordinate with the onsite Facilities Lead to ensure recycling, composting and other initiatives are implemented, tracked, and adhered to.

  • Partner with Facilities Managers to ensure required maintenance work is scheduled and requirements are met. Travel between office locations as needed to ensure day-to-day services are being delivered at high levels and to lead/support event planning activities.

  • Assist with planning onsite events, developing menus as well as being present during large/key events to ensure they are successful.

  • Maintains and builds business metrics ad hoc reporting, KPI managements, financial analysis.Analyze and create trends for financial data and the administration of accounts payable functions.

  • Meet with employees, create and analyses surveys, report and implement changes as needed.

  • Explore seasonal and wellness driven food trends for on demand presentation to management.

  • Is knowledgeable on HACCP controls along with proper storage and use of food related supplies.

  • Support Guardian Head of Hospitality with companywide meetings and high-level events.

  • Creates and supports meus and services for complementary meals, dining menus and pantries.

You have

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience in the food service insurer, preferable in a managers role Driver’s License and car available to travel to other locations.

  • Experience managing 3rd party food vendors, knowledge of contracts and SLA's.

  • People management experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of food safety requirements, compliance, and regulatory rules.

  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • SERV Safe or Department of Health certification a plus.

  • Must be knowledgeable on HACCP controls along with proper storage and use of food supplies.

  • Monitor compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and service.

  • Exceptional business etiquette and client relations.

  • Ability to multi-task as well as stay on task and concentrate with constant interruptions.

  • Experience in food purchasing, food costs and inventory control.

  • Ability to create budgets, flash reports, financial targets, and forecasts.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills to work and interact with colleagues at all levels.

  • Ability to see the fine details as well as the big picture-detail oriented.

  • Flexible attitude with problem solving ability – i.e., thinking on your feet.

  • Ability to lead and participate within cross-functional project team(s) to deliver integrated solutions to drive business results (i.e. Facilities teams, workplace strategy team, HR).

  • Strong knowledge of industry trends, food ordering process, menu creation, budget management customer service and vendor management.

Hours/Location/Travel

This is an in-office position requiring a full-time schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00am-4pm EST and may require additional hours to meet business needs.

The primary location for this position will be Bethlehem, PA and may require up to 20% travel. The Hospitality Lead will need to be available at Guardian’s locations in NJ, CT, MA, and NYC, as needed.

Salary Range

$66,130.00 - $108,640.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
