SUMMARY

This position will perform all activities necessary to ensure the safety of First Interstate Bank's information systems and to protect systems and data from intentional or inadvertent access. We are looking for an individual with initiative and the ability to influence events. This means being proactive and a self-starter rather than passively accepting events. The ideal candidate will be expected to go beyond specific job responsibilities to ensure goals are achieved and/or exceeded. This would include a commitment to continuous learning by constantly striving to increase your skills and knowledge.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide second-level response and incident determination/escalation/prioritization.
  • Perform security reviews and monitoring of the production environment.
  • Utilizing various tools to monitor and audit the infrastructure, detect issues, and coordinate remediation of any issues.
  • Perform periodic internal and external network scans for vulnerabilities and work to improve the vulnerability management process.
  • Design and setup dashboards and report creation to assist in spotting possible security incidents and to show the current security posture.
  • Assist in developing and presenting recommendations and complex ideas to peers as well as other audiences and will need to be able to tailor the presentation to the audience.
  • Investigate intrusion attempts and perform in-depth analysis of exploits.
  • Proactively identify and analyze internal and external threats, malware, and unauthorized access.
  • Track information regarding intrusion events, security incidents, and other threat indications.
  • Monitor security incidents and/or be tasked with leading an investigation.
  • Analyze a variety of logs to discover possible incidents and then start corrective remediation actions and escalation paths for each verified incident.
  • Identify and mitigate vulnerabilities and explain how to avoid them.
  • Develop plans, processes, procedures, and standards to document security functions and address security requirements.
  • Maintain security systems and administer controlled access to the systems.
  • Execute security controls to prevent attackers from infiltrating company systems and resources.
  • Provide status reports on security matters.
  • Work on one or more projects as a team member and occasionally as a project lead.
  • Coach junior security staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four- year College or University and three (3) years of experience in Information Technology with at least two (2) years of experience specifically performing Information Security related duties; or equivalent combination of education and experience. preferred; customer support experience preferred; Good personal computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft EXCEL, WORD, and e-mail; Basic knowledge of a Scripting language or programming experience such as (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Perl) is required; Knowledge of TCP/IP, switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls, cloud, virtualization is required.

OTHER SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

Security Certifications such as GSEC, SSCP, CompTIA SEC+, CEH, CCNA preferred; Experience within a Financial Industry security environment preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to have clear vision at 20 inches or less, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
