Ametek Inc. Buyer/Planner 1 in Binghamton, New York

Ametek PDS is looking for a strong Buyer/Planner to join us in Binghamton, NY. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the continuous supply of assigned components in order to maintain the required production levels at optimum cost, consistent with quality and quantity specifications. As well, s/he will be responsible for maintaining an inventory of parts, within assigned components, to meet stated goals of inventory while maintaining production schedules. S/he will develop internal and external supply chain processes for operations and coordinate the arrival of raw materials consistent with stated production plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and release orders to production to support the monthly output plan.
  • Works closely with own and other department personnel to determine ongoing planning/purchasing needs as well as production schedule changes.
  • Serves as an interface to sales and new product development teams for related product.
  • Responsible for MRP compliance and resolution of inventory discrepancies.
  • Resolve supply and delivery issues when necessary and work within Materials team to ensure materials are expedited.
  • Plans and purchases materials to ensure production schedules are met and customer deliveries are on time.
  • Manages supplier relationships, procures goods and services, including raw materials, tools, parts and supplies to support production schedules.
  • Analyze material requirements and planning reports to establish an optimal supply of material.
  • Expedite supply when required to ensure on-time shipment and resolve any current or anticipated shortages.
  • Negotiate with suppliers on delivery, quality, costs and packaging, securing both short and long term commitments.
  • Work with suppliers on performance improvement opportunities, ensuring continual supply while adhering to cost/inventory objectives.
  • Take occasional project team roles as necessary.


Education:
  • Associates degree with five (5) years experience in Procurement and working in a manufacturing environment.
  • BS/BA degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing, Business, Engineering, Accounting or related Fields desired.

Compensation

Salary Minimum: $60, 000

Salary Maximum: $90, 000
