About the Opportunity

Our Strategic Markets team at Jacobs, located in Birchwood, Warrington, is looking for an Engineering Manager to have a pivotal role in managing and coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams involved in the design, safety assessment, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. Your work will initially focus on innovative projects including the design of a nuclear waste storage facility, a waste handling facility for national nuclear waste, and other associated infrastructure as outlined in our latest project portfolio.

Working as part of our group, you will be exposed to national and international opportunities of significance to the business growth targets, delivering true value to our expanding markets and client bases. There will be opportunities to support bids for multiple, high value design, construction and commissioning work packages in the forthcoming 6-12 months and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering efforts for specialist projects, ensuring technical excellence and integration across various disciplines.

  • Manage project scopes, including detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover stages.

  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, including statutory requirements.

  • Develop and review safety design strategies and assessments in accordance with regulatory and project-specific requirements.

  • Facilitate collaboration across project teams, stakeholders, and third-party quality assurance entities to meet project deliverables and timelines.

  • Maintain and communicate a clear vision of project and safety technical objectives to all team members and stakeholders.

  • Ensure project deliverables are met within scope, time, and budget constraints.

  • Implement and oversee engineering management practices that enhance project delivery and customer satisfaction.

  • Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and presentations to internal and external audiences.

  • Provide mentoring and leadership to engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • A degree in Engineering (or equivalent) relevant to the nuclear or highly regulated industry sectors.

  • Professional registration (Chartered Engineer or similar) is preferred.

  • Extensive experience in managing multi-discipline engineering resources in a highly regulated or nuclear environment.

  • Proven track record in leading engineering design and safety assessment in compliance with complex regulatory frameworks.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage large teams and complex projects.

  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
