Catalyst Technologies (CT) is a market leader in the syngas value chain. It develops and supplies high-value, specialty process technology and catalysts for chemicals and fuels processing to enable our customers to operate efficiently, profitably, and sustainably. With CT at the forefront of the transition to sustainable chemicals and fuels, the transition to net zero is creating exciting new opportunities in this sector.

The senior process engineer will provide technical support to Sustainable Solutions business development activities including customer technical due diligence, technical negotiations, proposals and studies. This person will also provide engineering support in order to identify and develop industry leading technology and catalysts, supporting opportunity evaluation, external projects and technology development activities with US focus. This person will develop syngas technical knowledge to enable provision of all relevant syn gas technical input to Catalyst Technologies US activities utilizing support from established UK Sustainable Solutions technical teams.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Ensure JM health, safety, environmental and quality procedures are followed and that a high standard of safety is achieved in all associated work.

  • Carry out process engineering activities, following JM standards and procedures to schedule and budget as advised by the Technology Manager / Project Manager / Lead Engineer.

  • Lead proposal and study effort for US customers maintaining liaison with technology teams.

  • Attend customer meetings with business development managers to provide technical input to proposals, contract negotiations, customer technical due diligence. This will principally be in

  • Develop process simulations where needed.

  • Work with external project partners, including to evaluate data, develop flowsheets and technology as needed by the project.

  • Keep up to date with relevant patents and literature

  • Work with R+D, innovation and commercial teams within JM as needed for each project

  • Take a proactive approach to personal & professional development

  • Identify department/business improvement opportunities to enhance the departmental offering.

  • Broaden technical and commercial understanding of JM technologies.

  • Achieve/Maintain charter status of recognized engineered body.

Requirements for the role:

  • Degree / PhD in Chemical Engineering - (PhD desired )

  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience

  • Proven process engineering design experience with technical safety and environmental aspects

  • Proficient in use of Engineering Software, eg Hysys, ProII, Aspen+ Relevant syngas experience, (both in production via reforming technologies or in downstream utilization)

  • A self-motivated, proactive individual with high achievement drive and initiative

  • Demonstration of customer focus and ability to respond to customer needs whilst achieving project and corporate objectives

  • Display analytical, engineering and innovation skills and apply these to novel technology development

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
