Position Summary:

The Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) seeks applicants who are committed to supporting an innovative and collaborative workforce focused on identifying and translating scientific discoveries into medical advances for our patients, communities, and beyond. W ith a strong record of excellence, our faculty are conducting research across the bedside-to-bench continuum, relying on a top-notch leadership team and operating within a vibrant scientific community within Palm Beach County, which is home to FAU, UF Scripps, Max Planck Florida Institute, and Life Sciences cluster. Areas of ongoing research include identification of causative genomic variants; the interplay between genetic, social, and environmental determinants of human health; and the use of relevant model organisms to uncover the mechanisms contributing to disease susceptibility or resilience. Current biological focus areas include neurological disorders, cancer, pain, addiction, and infectious diseases.

The Department of Biomedical Science at the College of Medicine is excited to announce new tenure-track/tenured positions in all faculty ranks. Due to our recent expansion, we are now seeking faculty with active research programs in all areas of genetics, genomics, epigenomics, molecular biology and developmental biology to uncover disease-causing mechanisms. Although not required, teaching experience and interest is a plus. Successful candidates are expected to have a demonstrated ability to support an externally funded research program (Associate Professor or above), and a strong interest in participating in transdisciplinary collaborations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. from an accredited institution and credentials that merit appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, Professor levels. Individuals with advanced degree in genomics, genetics, cancer biology, multi-omics, bioinformatics, or a related field are particularly encouraged to apply.

• A minimum of two (2) years in an academic post-doctoral position (Assistant Professor level);

• An established research program with a biological focus on disease-causing mechanisms leading to translational applications;

• A demonstrated ability to implement the latest technologies;

• A track record of external funding, impactful publications and successful mentoring of junior faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students (Associate, Professor levels);

• An enthusiasm for leading and/or actively participating in collaborative projects that will contribute to a more personalized approach to medicine and prevention of disease;

• A commitment to engaging communities and delivering a positive impact through scientific outreach;

• An interest to contribute to innovative teaching and the important service missions of the College of Medicine.
