U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command Materials Handler in Boerne, Texas

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: located in the Qualfications Section Responsibilities Initiate various work orders for newly procured and non-procured items and verify/validate and inventories all serialized/non-serialized incoming items. Maintain custodial and electronic control of all materials and relocate all items from a temporary location to a permanent location, ensuring that an existing electronic inventory audit trail remains in effect. Identify appropriate storage locations for all materials, process work orders, input data condition codes and location changes, electronically close out work orders and maintain all documentation on file for control and accountability purposes. Maneuver through the automated computer system to differentiate between designated storerooms, conduct electronic issues for shipment, and verify materials pulled from stock prior to initiating transactions affecting the inventory balances. Operate gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles with gross weights up to 5 Tons to load and unload, stack and unstack, rewarehouse, and move boxes, crates, packages, pallets, or loose items and semi-trailer beds. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications About the Position: The Joint Munitions Command provides the Joint Force with ready, reliable, lethal munitions at the speed of war. JMC's mission is to support the production, storage, distribution, and demilitarization of munitions. This position serves as a Materials Handler located at the Camp Stanley Storage Activity, which is a subordinate installation of JMC. This position will perform the full range of warehousing duties, ranging from purchasing, to receiving, identifies materials, issuing, storing, inventory, wood skid/Air-Cargo pallet assembly, transporting and sub-routing materials, conducts in-depth data research, electronic location assignments, inputs computer data that directly changes the inventory balances, conducts exhaustive research of catalog information, records, or other data sources to obtain or correct stock numbers, processes requisitions, generates work orders, maintain record control of serialized assets, operate forklifts and has required knowledge of warehouse storage methods. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to receive, handle, store, ship, and maintain inventory of hazardous materials. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Warehouse work requires prolonged standing on hard surfaces, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, positions, and carries supplies and equipment weighing from 20 to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 70 pounds with a two-man lift. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping the forklift truck and raising, lowering, and tilting the loads being moved. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside in cold, damp, drafty, and hot areas. Subject to injury for falling objects, collisions, shifting loads, and overturning. Hearing protective devices and/or other protective devises and/or safety equipment must be worn during all periods of time incumbent is exposed to the hazardous condition(s). Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the job and do not meet criteria for compensation by environmental or hazard pay. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
