The Department of Administration, Division of Public Works, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to manage construction projects for state agencies. At the Department of Administration, be prepared to feel important, needed, and surrounded by great people!

The ideal candidate will have experience developing and promoting positive relationships with customers, peers and agency leadership while effectively managing a large project portfolio. This position is responsible for administering project budgets and documentation, authoring and facilitating Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), overseeing design and construction, and reviewing the work of design professionals and contractors.

We serve Idaho by promoting responsible government through expert customer support.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and evaluate assigned projects with agency representatives to establish project goals and schedule

  • Establish comprehensive project budgets reflective of the appropriated funding and project challenges

  • Negotiate and administer contracts utilizing the divisions web-based project management software

  • Author and facilitate Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) for design services and alternate construction delivery methods

  • Coordinate construction documents and activities of the design professional team and project stake holders to reach the established project goals

  • Review construction documents and specifications for compliance with adopted building codes, ADA standards etc.

  • Coordinate the advertising, bidding and award of projects

  • Attend construction meetings, review construction site activities, evaluate construction correspondence, contracts and change orders to deliver project within budget and on time

  • Develop positive working relationships with agencies throughout the state

  • Assist agencies with preparation of budget requests for future projects, furniture, grants, etc.

  • Review facility conditions

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Planning and implementing projects including coordinating the development of project scope, goals, work plans, timelines, implementation strategies, and measurement processes/methods for assessing progress toward goals and project outcomes

-Typically met by at least one year of experience managing projects with at least one year in a leadership role. Experience must have included being responsible for the development (needs assessment, planning and budgeting) of the projects as well as being responsible for assessing the projects toward goals and project outcomes.

  • Interpreting and explaining specialized or complex material into information usable by the public.

-Typically met by at least one year of experience that required the interpretation of specialized or complex material such as laws, policies, procedures, rules or related material with this material being analyzed and communicated to stakeholders in various formats indicating that they had a use for the material and that it was understandable.

  • Developing and monitoring contracts

-Typically met by at least one year of experience preparing contracts including assessing and determining program needs and funding, identifying goals and establishing timelines, and negotiating terms and conditions OR at least one year of experience providing technical assistance in all aspects of contract development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mediating conflicts and negotiating agreements

  • Using web-based project management software

  • Managing design and construction project budgets

  • Overseeing design and construction project staff and providing direction to a project team

  • Architectural or engineering education

  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a Valid Driver's License.
