Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for an Senior IT Technical Systems Analyst to join our Information Technology team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.

What does a Senior IT Technical Systems Analyst do for us?

With minimal supervision, a Senior Technical Systems Analyst works on domain specific solutions/applications with strong business process and end to end technical knowledge. Their primary functions include acting as the main liaison between technologists and stakeholders, establishing and maintaining relationships with the designated business partners to support strategic objectives, facilitating solution assessment and validation and elicitation, analysis, management, and communication of requirements. They also translate and align solutions to meet IT strategy and business objectives. They analyze and assist the business with defining and/or designing new business solutions design and documentation of solution(s). They act as a first line of support for end users and have advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution skills. They are responsible for the development and maintenance of complex reports and queries, system configuration, and prototyping. They understand complex technology and applications and has experience with a multitude of business processes and information systems.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

  • Business analyst principles, requirements management, business case development, requirements elicitation, communication, analysis, advanced application functionality and process modeling

  • Adaptive and predictive project management methodologies

  • Creating technical design specifications

  • Developing reports, dashboards, and queries

  • Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues with configuration items and development objects

Skills in:

  • Management from planning to execution, developing and tracking project requirements

  • Verbal and written communication

  • Meeting facilitation and negotiation

  • Problem solving, making sound recommendations, and managing stakeholder expectations

  • Basic SQL capabilities

  • The implementation of ERP systems and/or custom developed solutions

  • Logical reasoning and analysis

Ability to:

  • Understand table structures

  • Gather business requirements, interpret technical specifications, and relate them to system functionality

  • Facilitate work sessions with stakeholders to design or redesign business processes to meet requirements

  • Manage multiple technology projects/initiatives

  • Communicate clearly with technical personnel along with all levels of business leadership and project stakeholder

  • Prioritize course of action for self and others to ensure that work is managed effectively

  • Effectively translate business requirements into design specifications that can be leveraged by a developer to create a solution that meets business objectives

  • Proactively identify potential issues before they impact end users

  • Respond promptly and professionally to issues identified by end users, assist in identification and implementation of resolution

  • Create and maintain business relationships

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and/or certifications

Experience:

  • 5 or more years professional level IT/business experience with a minimum 3 years of business analyst experience

Preferred

  • Experience utilizing Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Enterprise Resource planning (ERP) software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Provide project leadership as needed. Periodic field work and possible overnight travel.
