Our fulfilment centres are the heart of our operations, bustling with activity as we receive, store, pick, pack, and ship millions of customer orders each day. As part of a diverse, cross-functional team, you’ll work alongside operations managers, engineers, and front-line associates to uncover data-driven insights that optimise processes, boost productivity, and enhance the overall customer journey. From analysing industry trends to modelling scenario-based forecasts, your work will have a direct impact on the day-to-day efficiency of our vast network of fulfilment centres.

As a Data Analyst apprentice, you’ll be joining a collaborative, supportive team that values teamwork, mentorship, and continuous learning. In this role, you’ll work closely with your colleagues who are committed to helping you develop new skills and reach your full potential. Your responsibilities will include requirement-gathering, inspecting, cleansing, transforming and modelling data with the goal of discovering useful information, informing conclusions and supporting decision-making. Strong communication skills will be key, as you’ll be regularly liaising and sharing your work with different stakeholders across the organisation as you share your insights and implement solutions. Attention to detail is also crucial, as you’ll be working with large volumes of data that require a high degree of accuracy. But you won’t be tackling this challenging work alone – your team will be there to support you every step of the way throughout your apprenticeship journey. You’ll receive formal training and have access to learning resources to build your technical proficiency. You will work towards the BSc (Hons) Digital & Technology Solutions (Data Analyst pathway).

Key job responsibilities

You will be combining working in your assigned team as a Data Analyst apprentice whilst continuing your studies to achieve your qualification. As a working student your focus is to complete your studies in your 20% off the job time by learning and developing your skills, knowledge and behaviours to work towards successful graduation. You will be set objectives and goals by your training provider and manager to support your studies.

You will build your skills over a 42-month period, starting in September. These skills will help you develop personally and professionally. Your apprenticeship will be made up of classroom/virtual based training to cover knowledge, on-the-job training at your Amazon base location, online learning as well as mentoring from our experienced team members.

As you progress through your apprenticeship you will become competent in the following:

• Analysing and interpreting data to provide actionable insights for your organization.

• Designing data models and managing databases to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.

• Ensuring data security and compliance with legal and ethical standards, protecting sensitive information.

• Collaborating with professionals from various departments to understand their data needs and provide relevant solutions.

• Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in data and technology to remain at the forefront of your field.

• Creating reports and data presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.

• Implement the stages of the data analysis lifecycle

• Apply principles of data classification within data analysis activity

• Analyse data sets taking account of different data structures and database designs

• Assess the impact on user experience and domain context on data analysis activity

• Identify data sources and the risks and challenges to combination within data analysis activity

• Select and apply the most appropriate data tools to achieve the optimum outcome

In this program, you will delve into the world of data analytics, mastering the collection, processing, and analysis of data to derive meaningful insights that add immense value to any organisation. A key component involves gaining proficiency in cutting-edge big data tools and technologies, enabling you to efficiently work with vast datasets. The curriculum also covers the crucial aspects of data security and privacy, emphasising the understanding needed to protect the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information.

Furthermore, the program focuses on developing skills in data visualisation, teaching you how to communicate complex data findings through engaging and informative visualisations. This ensures that data becomes accessible to a broader audience, facilitating effective decision-making.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates should be 18 years or over before the start date and have the right to live and work in England

For the apprenticeship program we prioritize applicants eligible to government funding for their apprenticeship and for this you need to:

  • Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years

  • Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the program

  • Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending August 2024 or later

  • At least 5 GCSEs C grade (grade 4) or above including Maths and English plus any of the following:

  • 2 A Level passes (A-E) in 1 or more STEM subject, or

  • BTEC extended diploma in a similar subject or

  • STEM T-Level Grades in a similar subject, or

  • Level 3 Apprenticeship at Pass in an appropriate discipline

You must NOT already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship. “Similar subject” relates to areas directly relevant to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) subjects.

Please note, you will be required to evidence your qualifications. If you have gained qualifications outside of the UK you will be required to evidence that they are equivalent.

Note: This Apprenticeship assumes the candidate has some or little knowledge/experience of the occupation, and is NOT suitable for candidates who already have a similar or higher-level qualification in the same or similar subject of the apprenticeship.   • You are able to operate in a fast-paced environment

  • You are able to demonstrate drive and a passion for learning

Your recruitment process will start with your online application. You’ll be asked to upload your CV, answer some questions that will help us to ensure your eligible for the programme and finally you’ll complete a short online assessment.

You will then be invited to complete a game-based assessment, to assess your suitability for an apprenticeship role at Amazon.

To get to know you beyond your CV, the next stage of the process will be our online evaluations. You’ll complete 3 video questions to tell us more about you, your motivations and any transferrable skills you have.

As a last step, we will invite successful candidates to an assessment centre where you’ll get the chance to meet the recruitment team and the hiring teams that align to the programme you have applied for. As part of the assessment centre, you may be expected to take part in a group exercise, a presentation, 1 to 1 interviews and other tasks relating to your chosen programme. After you’ve attended the assessment centre, the recruitment team will be in contact to confirm the outcome of your application.
