About the Role: Boston University's Creative Services (CS) group seeks an experienced marketing leader to champion high-level strategic communication initiatives and manage a team of account managers. The Director of Account Management will report to the Vice President of Marketing & Creative Services and be the primary liaison to key leaders and communicators throughout the University. This ensures that Creative Services maintains superior collaborative relationships and establishes Creative Services as a trusted resource for developing strategic integrated marketing strategies. The Director will oversee an Account Management team of eight, mentoring them on best practices for client management and executing strategic marketing collateral and campaigns. The Director will also work in close partnership with CS senior leadership and other Marketing & Communications senior leaders to maximize efficiencies and ensure the department runs smoothly, delivering superb, innovative, and compelling materials. In addition, The Director will confer with the CS team to ensure the correct application of the University's brand identity, reinforcing best practices and usage policies with the university's communications community.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of direct work experience, including five years of management experience, particularly in higher education or an in-house agency setting.

  • Strong understanding of marketing principles, as well as knowledge of print design process and requirements and website design and development.

  • Proven problem-solving capabilities. Able to be flexible and adaptable, juggling multiple tasks under deadlines.

  • Demonstrates strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team atmosphere with maturity and diplomacy.

  • Has a comprehensive understanding of marketing and communications strategies, research, project management, and customer service.

  • Builds and maintains positive, collaborative, and productive working relationships with clients and team members with varying levels of experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation abilities.

  • Ability to think independently and make autonomous, strategic decisions.
