Robert Half Litigation Paralegal in Boston, Massachusetts

Description

Robert Half Legal Permanent Placement is seeking a Litigation Paralegal will provide comprehensive legal support, handling various responsibilities related to litigation for our Boston client.

The successful candidate should be comfortable handling confidential and sensitive information with integrity and discretion and be familiar with federal versus state court differences. Previous experience in electronic discovery (eDiscovery) is desirable, but in the absence, a tech-savvy candidate willing to be trained will be considered. Hybrid 3days WFH/2 Days in the office.

Main duties and Responsibilities:

  • Comply with the ethical requirements as stated by the Rules of Professional Conduct.

  • Apply knowledge of the Federal Rules of Evidence.

  • Understand differences between litigation areas in federal versus state courts.

  • Create, organize and maintain document indexes and lists.

  • Undertake legal research using all accessible resources including libraries and computer data systems.

  • Prepare legal documents such as complaints, motions, petitions, subpoenas.

  • Assist in trial preparation—which includes file organization, trial book preparation, exhibit compilation, and attorney assistance during trial.

  • Arrange witness attendance at depositions, hearings and trials.

  • Conduct independent reading, analysis, and understanding of statutes, regulations and cases.

  • Administer eDiscovery databases, monitoring updates and maintenance.

  • Draft legal memoranda and basic correspondence.

  • CEDS certificate holders or candidates with a strong understanding of Electronic Discovery and Litigation Support environments are highly preferred.

    Requirements

Requirements/Abilities:

  • Four-year college degree or paralegal certificate.

  • At least 2-3 years of relevant on-the-job experience.

  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals.

  • Mental tenacity to manage and maintain multiple cases simultaneously.

  • Physical capacity to handle regular office tasks and lifting of up to 20 pounds.

  • Willingness to travel to private and public buildings, locally and statewide, to support legal matters as required.

  • Ability to work more than 35 hours per week and irregular hours if necessary.
