JOB DESCRIPTION:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) Generalist is responsible for the overall support and integration of the facility’s HSE processes and systems. This individual will assist plant operations in identifying, correcting and implementing HSE strategies to reduce risks to people, property, and the environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Maintain & update HSE policies and procedures.
  2. Evaluation of HSE Hazards, Risks and Impacts.
  3. Develops, implements, and participates in HSE programs including safety awareness campaigns.
  4. Develops and conducts HSE training to the workforce.
  5. Lead ergonomic evaluations and training.
  6. Design and provide hazard analysis required for Standardized Work Instructions and related forms.
  7. Conduct HSE audits and evaluations, perform job safety analysis (JSA), prepare reports, and conduct follow-up on actions.
  8. Coordinate Industrial Hygiene exposure assessments and follow up on the results.
  9. Integrate requirements into procedures, work instructions and controls.
  10. Maintain safety awareness and a positive attitude towards incident prevention.
  11. Assist Managers and Supervisors in incident investigation/prevention follow up.
  12. Evaluate injury statistics, suggest actions for incident prevention.
  13. Data tracking and month end metric reporting.
  14. Monitoring implementation of corrective actions.
  15. Participate in ISO 14001 internal audits.
  16. Understands and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies (ISO14001). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action regarding safety, health, and environmental concerns.
  17. Understands current quality policies and procedures (IATF 16949). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action regarding product quality.
  18. Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Health, Safety, Environmental or related area.

Position Requirements:

The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Working knowledge of EPA, OSHA, DOT and RCRA regulations, including, air and water permits, process safety and ergonomics.

• Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 policies, standards and procedures.

• Training and certifications in ISO 14001 internal auditor, RCRA, DOT, HAZWOPER and OSHA are preferred.

Required Skills:

• Must be passionate for the protection of workers, property, and the environment.

• Possess strong shop floor presence, and able to communicate with various layers of the organization.

• Strong written & verbal communication skills are required.

• Able to prioritize, organize and multi-task work assignments based on changing and challenging deadlines.

• Must have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

• Develop and implement standards and procedures within corporate guidelines

• Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.

• Ability to lead, motivate, train and positively influence others.

• Technical proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Power Point.

Required Experience:

• 2+ years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment is required.

• Prior experience developing and delivering HSE related trainings to all levels within an organization.
