Defense Finance and Accounting Service SUPPLY TECHNICIAN in Bratenahl, Ohio

Summary Who may apply: Current, permanent DFAS employees in the competitive service, eligible DoD PPP Military Spouse preference applicants and current DFAS VRA employees. Responsibilities Ensures budgetary compliance within program guidance on all property and consumable acquisitions. Determines stock levels and reorder points through usage levels and demand based requirements. Initiates and conducts discrepancy research, prepares supply discrepancy reports, and initiates appropriate action to resolve discrepancies. Provides technical guidance and training on regulatory and administrative responsibilities to lower graded technicians, clerks, and originators. Serves as point of contact for administrative aspects of property and consumable supply acquisitions to include oversight and review of purchasing requests. Prepares comprehensive property inventory analysis. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To be hired at the GS-06 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level, which is defined as using automated supply systems in order to facilitate inventory management; maintaining accurate accounting and reporting systems for non-expendable property and performing routine phases of property management; and conducting research to determine validity of information requested and to resolve discrepancies for reported inventories. To be hired at the GS-07 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level, which is defined as implementing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions; conducting extensive searches for required information; reconstructing records for complex supply transactions; and/or providing supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, or parts; performing routine aspects of supply work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. To be considered for the GS-6, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-5 or higher in the Federal service. To be considered for the GS-7, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-6 or higher in the Federal service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement. Education GS-06 Substitution of Education for Experience: Six months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (http://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html). GS-07 Substitution of Education for Experience: One full year of graduate level education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
