Amazon Technical Procurement Specialist I, IT Services in Bratislava, Slovakia

Are you interested in joining the Technology, Sourcing and Procurement space inside Amazon’s eCommerce Foundation? Then this job aligns perfect as our team is responsible for all aspects related to Hardware negotiation, acquisition and long-term strategy on that space.

As a Tech Procurement SME (Subject Matter Expert) you will partner with IT engineers and managers (our main customers) to define HW specifications and demand expected for our broader Corporate Amazon population. Our customers are spread in several countries in the region and you will create and place purchase orders with the appropriate vendors and track them, signing off when the supplies (hardware) arrive and logging the information in their records while handling a moderate number of buying situations at the same time.

You will also engage with our trusted vendors and suppliers on various levels. We hold governance programs with them and have mechanisms in place how to stay on top of the supply chain updates. We want you to assist the customers as a first technical point of contact in hardware inquiries providing complete and up-to-date information, in a courteous, efficient and timely manner.

Key job responsibilities

  • The Tech Procurement SME (Subject Matter Expert) will create and release purchase orders with the appropriate vendors and track them, signing off when the supplies (Hardware) arrive and logging the information in their records.

  • Handling a moderate number of buying situations at the same time. These deals generally come to closure quickly due to their straightforward nature. Per the nature of the position, a successful candidate should be able to manage 100 Purchase Orders per month, across the region.

  • Must maintain positive relationships with their vendors.

  • For a large number of cost centers, is very familiar with the monthly spending patterns and is expected to identify exceptions and areas for potential improvement.

  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of identifiable factors.

  • May be required to perform negotiations, and will be involved with negotiations.

A day in the life

  • You will use professional concepts learned in college or through some other formal training to identify problems and initiate solutions.

  • Expected to understand the business needs within a small number of business groups. For those groups, is able to validate the requirements are valid and justified.

  • Will regularly identify, discuss and bring forward issues or ideas to more senior team members.

  • Addresses a variety of problems, questions, or situations taking into consideration established criteria to determine outcome.

  • Provides responsive, high quality service to customers, representatives of outside agencies and any other stakeholders by providing accurate, complete and up-to-date information, in a courteous, efficient and timely manner.

About the team

At Amazon TSI (Technology Sourcing and Infrastructure) Procurement, we categorize and select the best suppliers by working with external companies to gather, analyze and make recommendations to the business. At the same time, we provide outstanding customer support to internal customers, and act as a liaison, resolving any issues that may arise with a contract or supplier.

Base pay for this position starts from EUR 1,800 gross per month and salary depends on the skills and requirements, there will be further pay components such as a sign on bonus and the eligibility to participate in a restricted stock unit scheme operated independently by Amazon.com Inc. in USA. Company benefits apply subject to further terms, including annual membership in medical clinic, life insurance, retirement pension, meal voucher card, career development.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Supply Chain, Business, IT or equivalent OR any other procurement related career

  • Industry experience in a direct procurement function, including supplier relationship management

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Influencing skills and negotiation skills

  • Creative and innovative thinking

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management skills.

  • Ability to effectively negotiate purchases.

  • Understanding of basic IT hardware and software troubleshooting

  • Experience with e-sourcing tools/systems to analyze data including Excel, SQL or other data management systems
