**Police Officer (Part-time)
*Part-Time status is an employee who works less than an average of 29 hours per workweek. *MUST be POST certified
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The employee is responsible for enforcing the law and order in the City Patrols the community to prevent violations, responds to service calls, makes arrests, handles emergency situations, and investigates crime scenes and traffic accidents May gather information for investigations Independent judgment is used according to the situation and sometimes different courses of action must be taken to complete the task.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS: Must be a POST CERTIFIED Police Officer HS diploma or GED required Some police experience, or a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities Patrols the community to prevent violations, responds to service calls, makes arrests, handles emergency situations, and investigates crime scenes and traffic accidents Valid drivers license required Must possess knowledge and proficiency in the operation of personal computers. Must maintain the required level of proficiency and certification in the use of firearms and evasive action/driving skills Must complete additional training and course work as required. **
