Manager of Used Equipment Sales
OPEN TO LOCATION:
Poughkeepsie, NY, Bloomingburg, NY, Holtsville, NY, Medford, NY, Bronx, NY, Newington, CT
Pay : $109,000 – 130,000/year, (dependent on relevant experience)
Bonus Potential: 25%

Key Qualifications :
Minimum 5 years’ experience in sales/remarketing construction equipment
Minimum 3 years’ experience assessing and valuing construction equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of equipment operating systems
Familiarity with equipment dealership operations preferred
Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel
Experience managing people
Valid Driver’s license
Responsibilities
The sale and rental of used Caterpillar equipment through successful orchestration with the Branch sales organization.
Influence Branch used equipment volumes and margins through the setting of market-based Trade Values and retail pricing
Maintain a supply of good, used, cost-effective Caterpillar equipment to meet the used equipment needs of NY and CT marketplaces
Assist in the development of marketing strategies to promote the sale of used equipment, including, but not limited to the H. O. Penn website, print advertising, social media, direct mail and Cat Certified Used
Management of the used equipment administrative functions within the context of the Corporate Sales environment
Utilize assets to achieve targeted return
Control costs involved in the used equipment operation
Develop a close alliance with the Branch service organizations to ensure that mutually beneficial, cost-effective controls and practices are implemented with respect to the servicing of used machines
Continually improve and control our key processes
The development of out-of-territory outlets for stale inventory, non-Caterpillar trades and the opportunistic retailing/wholesaling of rental fleet units
Produce targeted volumes and margins
Work collaboratively with Corporate Rental & Used Manager to monitor rental fleet utilization -- being cognizant of sales opportunities as they evolve
Build and maintain relationships with Used Equipment Managers and staff at other Cat dealers
Set realistic timelines for the inventorying of used Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar inventory profitably, disposing of same when parameters have been exceeded
Staff and develop people to achieve all key results
Build & maintain environment characterized by high productivity and high morale
Select people through effective use of HDW process
Effectively manage employee performance (goal setting, providing feedback, coaching, timely reviews, recognition, holding people accountable, etc.)
Develop people to consistently achieve or exceed job expectations
Ensure a culture of safety through ongoing communication and timely completion of safety initiatives and reinforcing safe work
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience in sales/remarketing construction equipment
Minimum 3 years’ experience assessing and valuing construction equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of equipment operating systems
Familiarity with equipment dealership operations preferred
Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel
Experience managing people
Valid Driver’s license
Physical Requirements:
Standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time
Hand coordination (typing and writing)
Occasional forward bending and reaching
Occasional walking and climbing stairs
Carrying (up to 20lbs.)
