The FitzSimons Presidential Initiative on Civics and Civility will position Fordham University as a national leader on the issue of responsible citizenship and civics education at the undergraduate and graduate level and within the broader Fordham alumni community. It seeks to address head-on the diminishing awareness and understanding our students have about how our government and political systems work and to battle against rising cynicism and distrust of key institutions. It will also address the extreme political partisanship that has seeped into our national narrative, help students navigate slanted news and toxic social media, and learn to engage with civility and respect.

Reporting to the University President and the University Chief of Staff, the Fellow will be instrumental in formulating and executing this ambitious program. This position represents a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on society through educational innovation and community participation.

This is a one-year donor-funded position based at Fordham University’s Bronx Campus.
