BCCS is looking for applicants to join our team as a Student Data Specialist. This is a 12 month position. Position PurposePerforms difficult administrative work managing databases and school reporting systems, preparing reports, maintaining records and files, providing administrative assistance to district staff and related work as assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Director of Data and Accountability.Essential Job Functions

  • Manages student information system; monitors, reviews, and updates data to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance; partners with the MARSS staff and the Enrollment staff to ensure all records are accurate and complete.

  • Maintains census and student contact information for the District; adds or updates data as needed to help maintain up-to-date students records and to maintain Ed Fi and MARSS compliance.

  • Reviews all new enrollment applications for completion and accuracy in the student system and maintains enrollment tracking records.

  • Monitors new hire information and maintains staff access and security rights in the student information system.

  • Runs reports to produce a monthly data scorecard for district leadership; runs annual and periodic reports for data needs using internal queries and SQL; provides data for public directory information requests.

  • Assists with maintaining and updating analytics, reports, and queries within the student information system.

  • Assists with systems integrations between the student information systems and other systems that export or import data.

  • Backs up all student records to student information and document retention systems and assists with records requests as needed.

  • Maintains student immunization records by importing data from the state immunization system into the student information system for all new students.

  • Completes CRDC federal reporting, and assists with STAR, MCCC, DIRS, and other state reports.

  • Maintains student groups and assists with program enrollment for athletics, targeted services, and other student programs.

  • Maintains digital equity records.

  • Acts as liaison for the Parent Portal to the student information system and provides assistance in answering questions and troubleshoots minor issues.

  • Assists with new-year roll-over processes and year-end-processing.

  • Assists with the development of mail merge documents and reports as needed.

  • Attends Ed Fi, MARSS, and EduPoint Synergy meetings regularly.

  • Other duties as apparent or assigned.

  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.

  • Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.

  • Effective writing and verbal communication skills.

  • General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment;

  • General knowledge of school systems and processes;

  • Strong skills with Microsoft Excel (including formulas and pivot tables) and Word (including mail merge).

  • Knowledge of database management and SQL

Qualifications ProfileAny combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Prior successful clerical experience preferred.
