Admissions Coordinator (aHEO)

POSITION DETAILS

New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn offering 58 associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a full-time Admissions Coordinator at the Assistant to HEO rank.

As a member of the Admissions and overall Enrollment Management unit, the Admissions Coordinator will assist with departmental activities, participate in college-wide events, and perform related duties.

Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Admissions Coordinator will, in addition to the CUNY Title Overview:

  • Conduct pre-admissions counseling for prospective students.

  • Assist with processing of applications, including verifying applicant information and other details.

  • Assist the Associate Director with carrying out processes related to immunization compliance for incoming students.

  • Use the Hobsons Connect system to counsel prospective applicants on requirements and standards and provide general information regarding Admissions policies and procedures to applicants and admitted students.

  • Under direct supervision, and in accordance with department's strategies and plans, send out communications using CRM.

  • When needed, represent the Admissions Office on behalf of the Communications Specialist to all relevant college offices regarding application processing and departmental procedures.

  • Communicate with the campus Webmaster regarding updates to and maintenance of the Admissions website pages.

  • Assist the Admissions Specialist by performing mass-processing of applications in a timely manner, in accordance with the Department's guidelines and the College's academic calendar.

  • Monitor CUNYfirst FileNet for application documents submitted by applicants and student.

  • Provide operational support to the Admissions office (service window, Zoom and phone shifts) on an as-needed basis.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

The ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours, is expected.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more years' experience in Admissions or Enrollment area in a higher education setting is strongly preferred.

  • Cultural competency and experience providing services to a diverse student body in a higher education setting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including active listening and problem resolution.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, and ability to multi-task.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.

  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft and/or CUNYfirst, along with the aptitude to learn new systems, is highly desirable.

  • Experience using Hobsons Connect or other standard higher education industry admissions and recruiting systems is preferred.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Coordinates efforts of admissions and/or enrollment offices.

  • Coordinates workshops, intake screenings, interviews and orientations for new students

  • Counsels prospective applicants on requirements and standards and provides general information on programs and services in person or by telephone, e-mail or letter; conducts follow up as needed

  • Assists in conducting open house sessions and orientations, including group sessions and programs at high schools and in the community at large

  • Assists with day-to-day administration and an admissions or enrollment office, including scheduling and preparing and distributing materials

  • Represents the Admission Office to the college's internal and external communities as directed

  • Maintains and updates program databases, lists and files to ensure completeness and accuracy

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$51,781 - $62,689. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
