Health Advocates Network Registered Nurse in Brooklyn, New York
Staff Today, a Division of Health Advocates Network, is currently seeking a Registered Nurse to work at a facility in Brooklyn, New York. These are registry positions with our company.
Pay Rate: $76 / hour
Shift details:
4-5 days/wk 9am-5pm 3:30pm-11:30p
4 days/wk 9am-5pm
4 days/wk 8am-4pm
RN Duties to Be Performed
Provide skilled nursing care to patients requiring professional nursing services.
Assess, plans and implements client care by following Plan of Care or Doctor's orders. Doctor's orders may consist of:
Dressing changes
Insertion and irrigation of urinary catheters
Oxygen administration by mask or cannula.
Tracheostomy care and endotracheal suctioning
Gastrostomy tube feedings
Gastrostomy/Jejunum tube medication and flushes.
SQ or IM injections
Insulin administration
Obtain Specimens
Nephrostomy tube flushes
Colostomy care and/or irrigation
Administers CPR and other emergency procedures as necessary.
Provide staff training and in-services
C. Tube feeding via gastrostomy or jejunal tube observation as explained in Exhibit B.
D. Tracheal Suctioning Clinical Competency as explained in Exhibit
E. RN's may have to take the role of staff development nurse and nurses who perform
episodic nurse duties in times of need.
F. RN's may need to step in and perform LPN duties when needed.
G. RN's need to Supervise all LPN's clinically.
H. There is a need for short term/short time nursing that would come under private
duty nursing or visiting nurses. These nurses would perform specialized services
such as Diabetes Care (injection of insulin), wound care (complex wounds/wound
VAC/pressure ulcers), Tube feedings, Trach care and many short—term services that
take a few hours or less.
I. Completes all nursing tasks in a comprehensive and timely manner:
1. Completes assignments in an efficient manner and consistent with the time
frames allotted.
2. Provides back up nursing coverage when primary nurse is off duty and
contacts the home(s) to determine health care needs at least weekly.
3. Maintains a current Nursing Policy and Procedure Manual; ensures its
accessibility to staff within assigned homes.
4. Maintains certification in CPR.

Maintains current RN license.
6. Maintains certification in Infection Control for Health Care Workers.

K. Provide nursing triage for non-medically enhanced residence during off hours.
1. Screen reported symptoms, assign a level of urgency, and direct appropriate
action based on standardized triage protocols.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
A. All nurses providing oversight of people 'who receive services from Metro
N.Y.D.D.S.O., must complete the OPWDD 2-Day Nurse Orientation, PRAISE,
Diabetic Train-the-Trainer and Nursing Triage Course.
B. All Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses are required to complete
the tracheostomy care and suctioning competency assessment prior to
assignment in the Medically Enhanced Residences.
VI. ACCOUNTING
A. PREVAILING WAGES: Prevailing Wages does not apply to this contract.
B. INVOICES
Invoices must indicate Invoice number, Purchase Order # OPD01- , Contract
number, the name of the site, the date of service and the type of service rendered.
