*What is the job about? *

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Legal Business Partner to join our Water Utility business division based in Brookshire, Texas. This key leadership role will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters and operations globally within Grundfos’ Water Utility division, hereby acting as the global lead counsel for the division. The Legal Business Partner will be part of the legal department consisting of a team of around 30 lawyers and para-legals located around the globe and will join the department’s leadership team together with seven other legal leaders. The candidate will report directly to the General Counsel in Denmark, with a dotted reporting line to the Water Utility leadership team in Brookshire, TX.

Qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support now or in the future.

Your main responsibilities :  

  • Oversee the Water Utility division's overall legal matters by following through on established legal plans and contributing significantly to both short-range and long-range legal goal attainment. Implement legal best practice in the business division and ensure compliance and consistency with other internal policies.

  • Legal Strategy and Advice: Develop and implement legal strategies that align with business goals, providing proactive legal counsel and risk management.

  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including supply agreements, service contracts, and partnerships.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

  • Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve disputes, litigation, and regulatory investigations, working closely with external counsel as needed.

  • Corporate Governance: Support corporate governance initiatives and ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks, providing training and guidance to business teams on legal and compliance matters.

  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Assist with legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Water Utility leadership team to support business goals and initiatives, promoting a collaborative and solution-oriented approach.

  • Legal Training: Prepare and implement relevant legal training as well as legal do-it-yourself DYI) tools including via the application of new legal technology tools.

  • Ad hoc legal tasks

Your background

We imagine that you have:  

Possession of a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and a solid academic history from a recognized law school in the United States, along with current membership in a state bar association. A comprehensive legal career spanning a minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant legal experience as an attorney either in a law firm and/or with in-house legal departments.

  • Proven comprehensive formal and informal leadership skills with the ability to influence senior management.

  • Collaborative mindset thriving in a team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate values open communication, actively contributes to group efforts, and supports colleagues to achieve shared goals.

  • Contract Expertise: Extensive experience in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on complex contracts.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Sound understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance.

  • Commercial and Corporate Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of commercial transactions, and corporate law.

  • Communication: Advanced verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving: High analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and strategic mindset. Skilled at functioning in a setting characterized by constant evolution and complexity, with the aptitude to adapt to new developments and sustain steadiness during periods that demand swift action.

  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions and geography.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel as needed to support business operations and legal matters.
