Assistant Director of Student Engagement
The Assistant Director of Student Engagement will be responsible for enhancing the engagement initiatives the Center for Student Engagement and Leadership Development offers to the campus community. They will assume supervising responsibilities for the Student Programming Board; as well as provide direct support for a portfolio of other clubs on campus. In addition, they will be responsible for providing engagement opportunities for our graduate student population and assist the Director with the planning and implementation of our campus traditions.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to the overall vision of the Center for Student Engagement and Leadership Development
Advise major student organizations
Serve as the primary supervisor for the Student Programming Board
Assist in the oversight of their budget
Interface with outside booking agents on behalf of students
Assist the SPB team in planning events that meet the needs of the Canisius Community
Coordinate campus traditions
In coordination with the Director the Assistant Director will assume responsibility for the planning and implementation of a portfolio of campus traditions
Assist the Director in the planning and implementation of Family Weekend
Serve as the primary coordinator for Senior Week events
Orientation
Assist the Director with the planning and implementation of new student orientation
Coordinate transfer and new student orientation in January
Work with the director and campus partners on enhancing our first year experience programs
Work with Graduate Assistants and students to plan and implement supplemental campus wide events
Work with the Griffins After Dark GA to plan the Griffins After Dark alcohol alternative program series
Regularly review the campus activities calendar and assist with filling in programming gaps
Graduate Student Engagement
Lead the centers efforts in providing engagement opportunities to our graduate student population
Supervision
Supervise a graduate assistant in the center
Provide day to day support for center operations
Other projects as able
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in higher education administration or related field required
1-3 years working in student activities or other student life related area
Commitment to enhancing the Jesuit mission of the institution
Ability to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends
Working knowledge of the Involve by Modern Campus platform or a willingness to learn
Ability to lead and motivate students

Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: $28.21 per hour
Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidate’s actual base pay will be based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including experience. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.
This is a full-time position. Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time employee’s date of hire and include – health, dental and vision insurance, life and long-term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time employees with contribution from the University after one year. Paid holidays, vacation, personal leave, and sick leave. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents.
