Gateway-Longview Mental Health Clinician, 10 month - School Based in Buffalo, New York

Job Title: 10-Month Mental Health Clinician- School Based Department: Behavioral Health Clinic

Position Summary: Assist children and adults, in collaboration with their system of care, toward recovery and reduction of negative symptoms caused by mental health needs through effective assessment, intervention, and ongoing evaluation of effectiveness. This will be achieved by providing outpatient services in satellite clinics located within school districts.

$39,167 - $46,542 (yearly)

Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy/clinic services, at 2 or more school-based satellite locations.

  • Assess each client’s mental health strengths and needs under the most current edition of the DSM / ICD 10 codes, following pertinent regulatory and agency standards

  • Ability to detect clients at risk, to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration

  • Effectively collaborate with the client’s continuum of care providers to include the school district, psychiatric care provider, primary health provider, and other involved health care providers.

  • Ensure full engagement of each client in the therapeutic process as evidenced by consistent attendance at scheduled sessions and contributions to treatment planning and progress

  • Complete and maintain all intake assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and all required documentation within the regulatory time frames, following professional standards, agency policy, Office of Mental Health guidelines, and Federal Medicaid and HMO guidelines

  • Assure that each assigned client’s record is maintained with current-to-date information following pertinent regulatory and agency standards

  • Meet established productivity expectations.

  • Assist in 24/7 coverage of the clinic during the 10-month period.

  • Provide therapeutic services as dictated by the treatment plan during the summer months.

  • Attend individual supervision and staff meetings during the 10-month and summer period.

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent documentation skills

  • Ability to work independently and also be an enthusiastic team player

  • Ability to work evening hours to assist in 24/7 coverage of the clinic and/or meet with clients around their availability.

  • Ability to attend school related events in the evening, as necessary.

  • Ability to work and travel to a School-Based Satellite location and the Main Clinic location

  • Knowledgeable in Evidence-Based behavioral interventions and assessments

  • Ability to work effectively with clients, staff, families, and community contacts from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Qualifications

  • Be license eligible, hold a provisional license (LMHC-P, LMSW Permit), or be fully licensed as LMSW, LCSW, or LMHC with experience working with children/families

  • Experience with NYS Office of Mental Health 599 (outpatient clinic) Regulations
