Job Description:

GDIT is in need of a Network Administrator to support our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services (EMITS) program in Bulgaria.

The Network Administrator serves as a member of a large Network Operations team to provide the full complement of LAN/WAN/ICAN network services to a large user base at a forward deployed austere site, to include router / switch configuration, COMSEC, VOIP provisioning, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) to a customer base that may change often. The Network Administrator works alongside ISP/OSP technicians to plan and complete network installation tasks across local and remote/isolated sites in support of customer projects. These tasks are accomplished while targeting a high level of Cybersecurity compliance across the network, ensuring DoD network assets remain properly configured, patched, and updated to mitigate cyber risks. The Network Administrator participates in rotational shift work as may be required from the customer to meet site manning requirements.

Network Engineer duties and requirements include:

  • Experience with the installation and configuration of current versions of Cisco IOS and hardware devices and components is essential as well as the installation, configuration, and management of COMSEC devices.

  • Experience with the installation and configuration of Juniper routers and switches a plus.

  • Works closely with the OSP/ISP Network Specialist to assist with Inside Plant and Outside Plant installation of cabling and equipment, to include troubleshooting, repair, fabrication, and installation of media converters, copper/fiber cabling, patch panels, MDFs, CAT 5/6, RJ-11, RJ-45 terminations.

  • Install copper and fiber cabling and equipment in accordance with DoD TEMPEST standards, Army guide 3.15 General Cable Specifications, NSTISSI protective distribution system (PDS) installation guideline, and other local Army Signal community guidelines and standards.

  • Must be familiar with using network test equipment such as Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) and multi-meters to test copper and fiber cabling for signal quality, degradation, throughput, continuity, and availability.

  • Terminate and splice both copper and fiber optic cables.

  • Maintains technical proficiency and ensures applicable certifications are kept current with the technology being implemented.

  • Creates network and rack elevation diagrams using Microsoft Visio and/or PowerPoint in required formats to support network and system accreditation packages. Proficiency with AutoCad a plus.

  • Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications

  • Secret Level security Clearance with a T5/SSBI investigation

  • Candidate must possess at least a Cisco CCNA certification; CCNP preferred. Additional Juniper certification or experience desired.

  • BICSI copper or fiber installation certification a plus.

  • Candidate must be able to meet local country SOFA eligibility requirements.

  • Candidate must possess DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification on Day 1.

  • Candidate must obtain ITIL Foundation certification within 90 days of hire.

  • IT related degree preferred.

  • Experience with provisioning and maintaining VoIP devices.

  • Experience ensuring network devices are IAVA compliant and able to troubleshoot of network deficiencies to determine the best approach to mitigate issues / tasks.

  • Knowledge of TACLANE and other cryptographic devices to include configuration, key management, and troubleshooting are essential.

  • Knowledge of WAN circuits and Army tactical circuits a must.

Candidate must be aware that the site is considered an austere, unaccompanied location where normal U.S. or military base facilities and services are limited. The candidate will receive a Housing Allowance (HOLA) and must find his/her own living accommodations. The use of a govt/company leased vehicle will be provided for a limited time upon arrival (30-90 days), after which the candidate must obtain their own Privately Owned Vehicle (POV). No special allowances are afforded for fuel or maintenance of the POV. Upon hire, the candidate will be sent to work at a site for up to six months in Romania or Kosovo while they apply for their required visa for the final destination. The candidate can expect that English is not widely spoken by the local population. Due to the remoteness of the site and Force Protection and safety considerations, the candidate can expect to be susceptible to on-call or recall status at any given time. The candidate is expected to be responsive to such calls in a timely manner.

The likely salary range for this position is $88,275 - $115,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
