In-engine Capture Artist is essentially a one-person film crew within a game engine ( Unreal Engine, Unity or others) that is tasked with capturing dynamic shots to be used in a trailer. This person will work directly with the Director of AV in utilizing the game’s build-tools in order to successfully stage and capture gameplay assets for editors to incorporate into their edits.
Whether it’s via a build or in-engine, the Capture Artist’s purpose is to understand an IP, and it’s accompanying build and to use that build, as a tool, in order to bring the creative’s vision to life.
Responsibilities
Captures all required shots needed from an from in-game engine (UNITY and UE5)
Works closely with the AV Producer, Senior Editor and the Director of AV on all capture requests
Assists in updating and maintaining builds with help from the capture team
QCs and labels all provided capture to be dropped onto the server
Discusses and troubleshoots all builds and assesses with the help of the Technical Capture Artist, the AV Capture Director and Producers
Skills & Education
Prefer BS in Computer Science and Engineering
Unity, Unreal Engine, Digital Camera Sequencing, Digital and Film Photography, Adobe Creative Cloud, Multilingual Media
Asset Creation, Programming (C++, C, C#, Java), Technical Troubleshooting, Live Streaming Production, Event Organization
Collaborative and flexible
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work within tight deadlines and project simultaneously
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work independently
