Destination Auto Group Senior Human Resources Generalist - Destination Auto Group in Burnaby, British Columbia

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Senior HR Generalist will play a pivotal role in supporting our HR functions and initiatives. This role requires a well-rounded HR professional with extensive experience in various HR disciplines, including employee relations and engagement, recruitment, performance management, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of British Columbia employment laws and a proven track record of contributing to a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employee Relations - Act as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns. Facilitate conflict resolution and provide guidance on workplace issues. Promote a positive and inclusive work environment through effective communication and problem-solving.

  • Talent management – in collaboration with the Human Resources Coordinator, support the full cycle recruitment process.

  • Employee engagement – provide support with the new hire onboarding process, facilitate New Hire Orientations, assist with annual engagement survey process.

  • Performance Management - Support managers in conducting performance reviews and providing constructive feedback, Develop and implement performance improvement plans as needed, Promote a culture of continuous feedback and professional development.

  • General labour/employee relations, including collective bargaining agreement coaching and/or interpretation/grievance support. Assist with collective bargaining preparation as required.

  • Assist with group health benefits administration, short and long-term disability management.

  • Health and safety policy compliance, including WorkSafe BC injury reporting and return to work management, Support of the HSE program across all dealerships.

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of various company HR policies and programs.

  • Provide any other day-to-day support to the Human Resources Manager, in support of the overall departmental goals and objectives.

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience dealing with numerous facets of HR.

  • You are the type of individual that sees no problem too big and no detail too small – you are self-motivated and always empowered to find solutions.

  • Outstanding time-management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under short deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High level of confidentiality and diplomacy.

  • Proficient in utilizing MS office suite of products, Google Drive, experience with applicant tracking systems. Experience with Canada Life Group Administration, Payworks and Breezy HR ATS is a plus.

  • MUST be relationship focused, with an approachable style and ability to establish rapport with employees and key partners at all levels.
