Neolpharma, Inc. Occupational Nurse in Caguas, Puerto Rico

Overall Responsibilities:Provides occupational medical and health services to company employees. Treats injuries and illnesses but refers cases needing additional professional attention to the Occupational Health Physician, or an outside physician or the community hospital. Maintains and handles employee medical records with strict confidentiality. Leads the company’s Health and Wellness Programs.Primary Functions:1.Treats employees who are injured or become sick on the job.2.Manages employee cases for the duration of the process, consulting with the Occupational Health Physician.3.Conducts routine return to work (RTW) evaluations or refers them to Occupational Physician for further evaluation.4.Assists the Occupational Health Physician in employment and periodic physical examinations.5.Assists employees with information pertaining to short-term disability claims and worker’s compensation claims.6.Reviews eligibility and benefits for the Family Medical Leave Act.7.Promotes Health & Wellness Programs and other initiatives.8.Manages the Substance Abuse Control Program with HR Manager and coordinates services as needed.9.Conducts OSHA required health surveillance examinations and documents results.10.Coordinates physicians’ calendar and prioritizes case management reviews.11.Maintains medication inventory and verifies their expiration dates (OTC).12.Collects samples; administers medications and/or tests as directed by the physician.13.Organizes and implements health and wellness educational initiatives.14.Documents and reports absences to HR, Finance and Supervisors adhering to legal guidelines.15.Educates employees on workplace safety and other related issues.16.Prepares and revises policies and procedures for the Occupational Health area.17.Participates of reasonable accommodation decisions and coordinates assignments with supervisors and managers.18.Verifies AED equipment weekly, monthly and annually.19.Prepares reports for agencies as required.20.Mentors the Occupational Nurse in Occupational Health clinical and administrative matters.21.Guides employees on leave licenses and benefits when there are absences due to health situations.22.Performs other duties as assigned.Secondary Functions:1.Supports the plant Safety Brigade as required.2.Coordinates disposition of Bio-hazard Waste.3.Manages, classifies and provides follow-up to occupational cases in partnership with an interdisciplinary team.Minimum Requirements:•Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing•Three to five years of experience in the industry environment•Certification in audiology, spirometry and visual testing•Familiar with varied biological, chemical, or physical hazards in the working environment•Up to date knowledge of employee licenses according to laws and regulations•Knowledge of the ADA, FMLA, SINOT, State Insurance Fund, among others.•Bilingual•Good communication skills (written and oral)•Computer literateOther Requirements:•Flexibility to work in various shifts as per business need.•Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse highly desirable.Neolpharma Inc. is an Equal Employment Opportunity /Affirmative Action Employer committed to hiring a diverse and inclusive workforce.
