Job Description

Tax Manager & Comptroller is responsible for all the compliance and stewardship related matters of Egypt legal entities; including but not limited to reviewing the financial statements, direct & indirect tax filling of all Egypt legal entities, running the tax forecast process, leading the tax audit process, liaison with tax advisors and functional leader in management of tax audit assessments and providing support to business team on tax, business model & stewardship related matters.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews direct & indirect tax filling, financial statements, and other statutory reports.

  • Owns the local tax forecast adding to the quarterly & year end financial books closure.

  • Handles the tax audits and refunds process.

  • Ensures processes and controls are in place and working efficiently, also provides innovating solutions for operational improvements.

  • Provides update on new applicable tax laws and regulations.

Other Responsibilities

1) Compliance and External reporting

  • Be responsible for the monthly/quarterly/annual Income Tax, WHT, VAT & TP compliance, this includes reviewing the computations, preparation, filling of all relevant tax returns as well as the tax payments. Also to continuously improve process and resolve the issues identified during the filling preparation to ensure accuracy & timely fillings.

  • Handling the closure of open tax audits, owning the communications with tax authority and tax advisors and reviewing the reports prepared by service center requirements needed to close the open Tax Audits.

  • Leading the VAT/WHT refund process (if any).

  • Being up to date on the tax legislations updates in Egypt and supervise legislative developments.

  • Be in charge of preparing audited financial statement and other statutory reports.

  • Build and maintain a good relationship with external parties such as financial auditors, tax advisors, tax authority...etc.

Internal Reporting

  • Be responsible for the preparation of the monthly income tax forecast for all Egypt legal entities.

  • Prepare the monthly / quarterly reports required by Regional Comptroller and Tax team.

  • Supervise fiscal developments in the country and suggest improvements in local procedures/ processes to ensure compliance and capture any potential tax incentives in the country.

  • Review / supervise the budget of tax advisors & financial auditors with a view to keep them at minimum.

3) Accounting and Financial Reporting

  • Supervising P&L and balance sheet tax accounts on a monthly basis and liaison with service Center to ensure maintaining accurate accounting books.

  • Reviewing the calculation and provision of quarterly tax entries to cover the tax liabilities and contingencies.

  • Ensure compliance/adherence with local legislations.

4) Support business team and Local Lead Team

  • Be responsible for reviewing the business operating processes and assess the local implications related. Also to work on revising these processes as needed to ensure compliance with business model & local regulations.

  • Provide the business team with the support/mentorship as needed.

  • Participate in Global and Regional Projects (if any).

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or any relevant course

  • 4-6 years of experience in Tax and/or Local Comptroller role.

  • Good knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance and relevant laws.

  • Critical thinker and problem solving skills.

  • Leadership skills.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Teammate and can work with different people from different functions.

  • Keen on details and can work with minimal direct supervision.

  • SAP knowledge is advantage.
