The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. JOB SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Director of Sales, the Sales Manager, SMERF is responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities in the SMERF (Social, Military, Education, Religious, Fraternal) markets. This position is responsible for acquiring and maintaining quality group accounts. A self-starter who is as adept at picking up the phone to make cold calls as they are at nurturing existing key accounts to maximum profitability, the Sales Manager, SMERF will be an integral part of the team tasked with developing and managing revenues. To be successful, the Sales Manager, SMERF will need to thrive in a fast-paced environment where results, recognition, and reward go hand in hand. This position will also be involved in managing and contributing to the promotion of the hotel and its services across social media platforms.

TYPICALLY WE LOOK FOR THE FOLLOWING:

Experience Required

• Previous group sales experience, minimum of two years in a similar setting is preferred.

• Knowledge of Salesforce Platforms and FOSSE PMS is an asset.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Produce room sales through prospecting, networking, responding to inquiries, conducting site inspections, client meetings and building relationships with corporations, industry suppliers, event planners, tour companies, tourism industry officials, etc.

•Represent the hotel at industry tradeshows, conferences, and adhere to the guidelines of the budget and marketing plan.

•Support the Director of Sales in preparing the department budget as well as the hotel’s overall sales goals and strategy.

•Identify new business lead by examining local market trends and competitive activities.

•Collaborate with local community/businesses for lead generation.

•Respond to all SMERF leads in a timely manner

•Actively prospect new SMERF clients by cold-calls and emails

•Conduct in-person meetings with potential accounts to explain the hotel’s unique value proposition and to negotiate future business opportunities

•Maintain the existing client base

•Provide sales reports as required by the company.

•Maintain accurate and timely sales activity logs in the company’s Salesforce database.

•Conduct ongoing competitive analysis and maintain up-to-date files of competitors’ activities, prices, brochures, sales kits, etc.

•Participate in site inspections, trade shows, sales trips, hosted events, and community initiatives as required.

•Partner relationship building and maintenance

•Organize and conduct introductory & planning site visits in a professional manner that addresses the needs of the guests/groups while showcasing our hotel and offerings.

•Be knowledgeable of the strategic sales plan and sell and negotiate group room rates based on achieving hotel goals, maintaining average room rates, and the number of room nights sold.

•Social media management – managing and assisting in promoting the hotel and its services on social media platforms, with a specific commitment to posting engaging content three times per week. Staying updated on social media trends and leveraging platforms effectively to enhance the hotel’s online presence

•Assist the Director of Sales in planning new programs to increase business and profits.
