Senior HVAC Engineer

Successful candidate will work in a dynamic team on the design of mechanical building services. The successful candidate should have the capability to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to communicate and interact directly with other disciplines (architects, electrical/structural engineers, etc.). The projects will be based primarily on industrial building design. Successful candidate will develop solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity.
Develop detailed specifications for the project by utilizing the client specifications and / or Jacobs' general specifications,
Perform detailed calculations in sizing and selection of HVAC equipment,
Selection and design of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and controls) in industrial and commercial buildings,
Prepare technical sections of enquiries and purchase orders, review bids and make recommendations leading to the selection of vendors,
Develop construction documents (work packages, plans, details, schematics),
Become well acquainted in all areas of responsibilities of the Mechanical/HVAC department,
Prepare or assist in the preparation of the cost estimates and schedules for HVAC equipment for bids and proposal work,
Provide technical advice to others within the company,
Coordinate with other disciplines for information related to the area of responsibility,
Supervise and mentor younger engineers of the HVAC department.
Minimum of 15 years of working in a consulting firm.
Minimum of 8 years of Canadian experience.
Minimum of 10 years working experience with Alberta Building Code, Alberta Fire Code, National Plumbing Code, and other applicable building codes and standards.
Knowledge of ASHRAE and SMACNA standards.
Minimum of 12 years working experience with mechanical building systems and designing building services within the industrial building sector.
Minimum of 12 years working experience with heating water, chilled water, refrigeration, and plumbing systems in a plant environment.
Project track record of design for HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Building Automation Systems design for small to medium size projects.
Experience in using Trane Trace or similar software for load calculations.
Proficiency with AutoCAD considered an asset.
Experience with commercial building design is considered an asset,
Experience with Revit would be considered an asset.
Demonstrated experience or track record of managing multiple projects and working in a fast-paced environment while being able to work independently.
Demonstrated ability to resolve technical problems during the full project lifecycle.
Proficient with computers and standard office software applications.
