Additional Information:This is a one-year term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position.

Job Function:Research Position Description:The Finley Lab in the Department of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School is looking for a talented and highly motivated candidate to serve as a Research Assistant II. The successful candidate will report to and work closely Dr. Daniel Finley, Professor of Cell Biology. The ideal candidate will assist with and lead research projects. They will instruct staff and students on relevant research methods as appropriate. The candidate will manage the lab's mouse colony, instructing staff and students where applicable on dissections and related procedures.

Job Functions:

  • Candidate will work in partnership with researchers in the lab to understand how the proteasome affects aging and protein homeostasis, with emphasis on the brain. In addition to this, they will study the differentiation of red blood cells.

  • They will perform research experiments, using transgenic mice and cell lines, and a mixture of genetics and biochemistry. They will employ a wide variety of experimental methods to complete these studies, generally working with independence, including in the organization of data, reporting of results, and thoughtfully interpreting results.

  • They will assist in lab upkeep as is the case for all lab members.
