    Job Description

SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, Environment, Health and Safety Office (EHS), to provide comprehensive administrative support for the managing director of EHS programs, director of operations and management system, director of laboratory safety, biosafety program (BSP) staff, and senior manager, finance and administration. Will perform diverse operational and administrative tasks; support the managing director, including with scheduling, communications, project management and coordination, and representing the department at meetings with various stakeholders; plan and coordinate special events and group meetings, e.g., space reservations, catering, invitations, name tags, travel, communications to members and invitees, etc.; perform logistical planning and execution for meetings, conferences, and projects; support EHS service teams and related efforts; provide backup to the lab safety specialist and all elements of the BSP, including Committee on the Assessment of Biohazards and Embryonic Stem Cell Research Oversight (CAB/ESCRO) support and administration, database and records management, training reconciliation, website maintenance, and communications.; and serve as back-up for senior manager, finance and administration, and EHS administrative assistants and receptionist as needed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; five years’ related experience, preferably in an academic setting; excellent organizational, problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, customer service, proofreading, and verbal and written communication skills; good judgment with highly sensitive/confidential materials; expertise with Word, Excel, SAP, Concur, and online calendar software; and willingness to learn new skills/programs as needed. Seek a self-starter who is able to work both independently and as part of a team, approaches work with flexibility, and can coordinate several projects/tasks simultaneously under pressure of deadlines in a highly visible position.
