U.S. Marine Corps HEALTH PROMOTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF) in Camp Foster, Japan

You will serve as a HEALTH PROMOTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF) in the US MARINE CORPS ofMARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BUTLER. Responsibilities You will assist commands in identifying individuals at elevated risk and connects those Marines to skill building activities designed to promote protective factors and/or support resources. You will be a member of a comprehensive Total Force Fitness Team within the Semper Fit Division of MCCS developing training schedules to support the needs of the unit(s) and engages in outreach efforts to support the command. You will provide information, assistance and guidance to members of the unit in meeting personal and family problems beyond the scope of their own resources. You will provide Marines with an organized system for bringing together all available resources for the relief of personal problems having an adverse effect upon performance, morale, and retention of skilled manpower. You will collect metrics and reports data in support of measures of performance and measures of effectiveness to the installation Behavioral Programs Branch, for input to Headquarters, Marine Corps. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: working with other professionals to help prevent suicide, sexual assault, sexual harassment, domestic abuse, child abuse, and other problematic behaviors; conducting group psycho-education to build skills to promote protective factors; AND providing evidence-based or evidence-informed, headquarters-approved social emotional skill building prevention and education. Education Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. or Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. or Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily. Military Spouses and Family Members may apply 30 days before their anticipated arrival date. However, they will not receive preference until arrival at the foreign location. Military spouses and family members who are appointed may not extend longer than 2 months following the transfer of the sponsor from the commuting area of the foreign duty station; 2 months beyond the separation of the appointee's sponsor; or any time beyond the time employee ceases to be a family member. Military Spouse Preference applicants will be placed at the highest grade for which they have applied and are determined Best Qualified (BQ). A BQ military spouse possesses knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies comparable to others who meet the competitive referral criteria for the specific position. PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ).
