We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) position for AdventHealth Castle Rock, Colorado.

GENERAL SUMMARY :

The Chief Medical Officer is a key member of the senior management team and is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction and overall operational management of various hospital departments. Works collaboratively with the CEO and other members of the senior team to develop strategic plans, build effective teams and processes to ensure quality care and to also achieve outcomes in growth, quality, finance, team and patient experience. physician services and medical staff administration for the hospital. Works with the CNO to provide effective multidisciplinary approaches to clinical outcome management and environments of Quality and Safety. Has operational responsibility for some clinical departments to drive performance, financial outcomes, and patient experience. Additional responsibilities include establishing and implementing standards and policies to ensure the quality of medical care

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Responsible for the management and coordination of the medical staff’s participation and involvement in the quality improvement process, development of quality outcomes measures and the development of pathways, protocols and other clinical processes in collaboration with nursing and the patient care interdisciplinary teams. Responsible for medical staff progress toward “best practice” care delivery across a continuum of care. Ensures appropriate mechanisms are in place to manage quality patient outcomes and utilization of management issues.

  • Sponsors continued refinement and development of the medical staff organization to facilitate improved patient care processes throughout the hospital.

  • Manages workforce decisions and resource allocation for the organization.

  • Develops strategic plans to improve quality of care, generate revenue, and accomplish organizational objectives

  • In collaboration with Quality Resources Department and other quality improvement staff, assists in the development, implementation and operation of the Quality/Performance Leadership Improvement Reporting model to including leadership of the Quality and Patient Safety Committee.

  • In collaboration with the Quality Resource Department and Medical Affairs Office, provides leadership and education to create and maintain a strong mutually beneficial health system/medical staff relationship which responds to the requirements of payers, government, the public and providers.

  • Maintains current knowledge of The Joint Commission and State of Colorado regulatory or reporting organizations standards on quality indicators and certification processes. Works with various leaders in the organization to ensure that appropriate structure, policies and procedures are operational for accreditation and performance excellence.

  • Supports departments in maintaining regulatory compliance under standards set by CMS.

  • Analyzes budgets and financial data to identify opportunities for cost savings.

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of medical informatics, applied statistical techniques and analytical tools/processes.

  • Participates in medical staff committees as appropriate and provides expert counsel on clinical quality improvement efforts to committee members and staff.

  • Assists staff in the development of medical staff budgets and other resource allocation related activities.

  • Works collaboratively with the Chief of Staff and CNO to coordinate medical staff quality and peer review issues.

  • Assists in physician behaviors process supporting Medical Chief of Staff in government activities.

  • Effectively represents the hospital issues to AdventHealth management and medical staff.

Qualifications

EDUCATION , EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE REQUIRED :

  • MD or DO

  • Board Certified in an approved clinical specialty required while in clinical practice
