SAIC Electro Optical Satellite Payload Engineer in CHANTILLY, Virginia

Description

SAIC is seeking an Electro-optical (EO) Satellite Payload Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support the NRO Commercial System Program Office (CSPO). Qualified candidates must possess demonstrated electro-optical satellite experience and be able to provide technical and programmatic insight on the wide variety of satellite capabilities & activities. The successful candidate will work both independently and in a team-based environment.

Key duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Directly support CSPO as the office responsible for commercial overhead data acquisition for the NRO.

  • Provide advisory expertise in assessing commercial satellite provider’s electro-optical space systems.

  • This includes assessing modeling and simulation results and assumptions, advising on formal requirements development, analyzing satisfaction of requirements, and coordinating product quality assessments.

  • Coordinate commercial electro-optical provider’s support to USG exercises, demonstration, theater downlink tests, and operational collections and deliveries.

  • Apply optical payload engineering knowledge to support acquisition milestone events and reviews including the generation and execution of briefings as required.

  • Assist, as needed, in Government source selections and the technical evaluation of commercial satellite provider proposals.

  • TS/SCI with CI Poly required.

  • Work in an interactive team environment with Government customer leads, commercial satellite developers, and other subject matter experts.

Qualifications

· BS in Engineering, Physics, or similar technical discipline with 14 years of experience; Master's and 12 years of experience; PhD and 9 years of experience.

· Experience working on electro-optical satellite programs and have a solid understanding of electrooptical first principles.

· Have strong familiarity with electro-optical system functionality, performance, and product data structures including: MSI, SWIR, LWIR, MWIR, and Hyperspectral.

· Be familiar with electro-optical image product types, collection modes, and quality figures of merit.

· Electro-optical satellite acquisition experience, specifically writing and evaluating requirements, and assessing development contractor performance.

· Ability to contribute to modeling and simulation (M&S) campaigns and assess simulation results.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

· 5 or more year's experience working on electro-optical satellite programs and have a solid understanding of EO first principles.

· 3 or more years experience working with electro-optical image product types, collection modes, product data structures, and quality figures of merit.

· 7 or more year's of Electro-optical satellite acquisition experience, specifically writing and evaluating requirements, and assessing development contractor performance.
