Actalent Water Resources Engineer in Chantilly, Virginia

Job Title: Water Resources EngineerJob Description

As a Water Resources Engineer, you will be tasked with developing hydrologic and hydraulic models using GIS data, topographic data, and as-built information. Your responsibilities will include analyzing, calibrating, and troubleshooting models, conducting site visits for data collection, developing local and state permit applications, and preparing technical reports. You will also research regulatory codes, manuals, and standards, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and communicate effectively with team members. Additionally, you will act as a technical mentor to entry-level engineers and perform other duties as required.

Hard Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or similar

  • 2-6+ years HEC-RAS modeling experience

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar

  • Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, Flowmaster, HEC-1, TR-20

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills

  • Strong quality control skills and attention to detail

Work Environment

100% on-site in Chantilly office. Early arrival and departure options available, but no work-from-home flexibility. Projects will be located in Fairfax County, Loudoun County, Arlington County, Prince William County, Town of Leesburg, and the Town of Herndon.
