Job Purpose
Leads theMSPSprogramming and events initiatives designed to mobilize efforts to strengthen community engagement and belonging in support of underserved students and ensure an inclusive space for intercultural learning. Acts as a visible presence on campus for the Office ofMSPS. Works collaboratively with units in the Division of Student Affairs, and other campus departments that aid underserved communities.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree and two or more years working with underserved students, first-generation and students of diverse backgrounds, preferably in a high school or college/university setting is a key requirement. Equally important is the ability to plan educational and cultural programs and events, which is a must for this role. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of Multicultural Affairs, Diversity, Access, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice. A firm grasp of student development theory and cultural identity development is required. Ability to create a welcoming, inclusive environment and establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students and the campus community. Must be proactive and capable of taking initiative on projects, events and student services. Superb organizational, communication (written and oral), interpersonal skills, and present a professional image. Being a team player is required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), social media applications, and create visual text and imagery (i.e., flyer) to communicate events and marketing material. Knowledge ofFERPAstudent privacy regulations required; capable of maintaining confidentiality of students, faculty or staff members. Familiarity with the College's programs and policies would be helpful.
Additional Comments Regarding Position
Required participation in weekend and late evening activities as needed. Occasional overnight out-of-state travel for professional conferences. Must be able to climb stairs and lift boxes or equipment weighing 20-30 lbs.
